He consistently talks us down and unfortunately this article is much of the same.

Says Clarke is a weird choice for us as manager because of lack of experience in the squad and then mentions us signing Roberts and Hourihane for good leadership qualities. Also takes it as a certain we'd lose Connell and Phillips but fails to add into the other predictions the other teams losing their squad players.

Talking absolute rhubarb the Gabriel, i think we'll finish between 7th and 10th.

Sorry, am I reading that right?

He had us to finish second in the championship after Mowatt & Dike left?

Connell’s fitness issues do potentially have an impact on this season though. It’s a condition that can take years to recover from & he didn’t look the same player (fitness wise) to me even months after he returned to playing.

I think it’s a perfectly legitimate thing to discuss.

I think right now 17th looks realistic but the presumption is that we’ll sign at least one if not two strikers.

A lot depends on the quality of the strikers we sign & who’s at wing back as if you’re playing 3-5-2 the wing backs are the most important players in the team.

Right now I’d go 13th but recruitments everything.

It’s probably a stupid article to write 10 days before the season starts. He should’ve at least given himself until the season starts to account for further signings & departures.

Never read as much ******** in terms of predictions than those.

I would be hugely shocked if were not in the top 6 mix this season. I honestly think the combination of a far more inspiring manager, the sprinkling of experience with youth and moving on those who didn't seem to have their head in the game. Add to that I still think we will bring at least 2 more players in, I am more comfortable with this year's squad.

Oh and Clarke seems to like players attacking and not just slowly passing backwards and sideways with no movement in front of them.

17th would be an absolute travesty.

Got as far as ‘1st - Birmingham’, who he supports.

I get that, but he referenced him taking 4 months to get back playing because of it. Unless he suffers some sort of relapse, he's not going to miss that much of the season from it this time. He's also had a full pre-season this year too.

What a load of codswallop. It'll cheer some of the usuals on here up though with his pessimism.

That piece should be pinned on the dressing room wall. Let the players know and get them fired up to prove everyone wrong.
    17th would be a disaster.

That seems utterly bizarre. I don’t think even the most biased Reds fans thought that was a likely outcome

Yes there have been a couple of heads nodding sagely on here already. Articles like that should be read for their comedy value only. Nobody can predict what is going to happen in any of the leagues, especially before they are even under way.

I hope Brum rot at this level for several years, just like others of their like have done. To suggest that they are champions-elect already is just ludicrous.

Looking at the current squad, I feel we are considerably weaker than last season and the previous one. Unless a few quality signings are forthcoming I fear we will struggle this season to get into the top ten positions. There is time til the end of the transfer window but it is flustrating to see other clubs bringing in players and BFC giving us the same old get out of jail line about 'flustated in the transfer window.'

From memory, it was on the basis that we'd continue to strangle teams like we did under Big Val. Again, much like his prediction for us this season, he didn't acknowledge that we had a different manager with different philosophies.
