We play Donny in the EFL cup on 12th don’t we? 2 games in 2 days, get ready! I’m guessing the Donny match will be moved. Season hasn’t even started yet and I miss 3 o’clock Saturday games.
Typical the original date for Rotherham on Saturday 9th dropped on my rota so could have had a few beers pre match and now I’ll probably only catch the second half of the Huddersfield game cos I’m back at work , they can shove sky up their arse.
I am sorely tempted. Aside from the logistics (I believe we live similar distances to Oakwell) the attraction of the ST price is nullified by potential missed games. Also, we are far from the only club affected by this. I am assuming all clubs have been directed as to how much they can voice an opinion about this. Because in reality there must be dozens of clubs losing out on Saturday 3pm revenue who must be on the point of venting their spleen on social media.
You've got to wonder what the impact on season tickets will be after this season. It's becoming clear that if you are someone who only makes the weekend games because you live far away or work evenings, then a season ticket is becoming less and less value for money. I know many of the London tykes who I used to be one, bought tickets even though they were unlikely to make the Tuesday night games. I'm not sure many will continue if actually, 60% of the games aren't on Saturday any more. I realise the potential revenue loss is more than offset with the increase in TV money but it's going to make for an even flatter atmosphere going forward. Maybe it's time to allow the Saturday 3pm TV coverage ban to be lifted.
Unfortunately with TV no fans armchair or attendees are even considered, it’s all about advertisers and revenue for the TV companies.
