Got it on goid authority that he was signing for us again, only days b4 Huddersfield offered him more. Not sure what he has said bad about us tbh. As usual in walks of life money talks…. There wont be many on BBS me included who hasn’t moved jobs for more money. Also I am sure in interviews for a new job we all say we are committed to the cause.
He managed to get a promotion from League 2 on his CV and now talks like he's a mastermind that will bejewel any ambitious club's crown. In truth, he's failed from that (presumably lucky) promotion onwards. He's walked out of two clubs and been sacked from another, achieving nowt despite having players other managers can only dream of. That in itself would be fine. Not everyone can be winners. But he's a legend in his own head.
Completely agree. The way people spoke of him when he was rumoured to be returning was as though he's klopp 2.0. The man has achieved much less than Clarke whilst having much better squads. He got found out at Swansea and the fans detested him, he will probably get Huddersfield up because a toddler could with their funds and apparent 'ambition' but wouldn't be surprised if he got sack soon after
The teams in managed decline, that much is clear, but mickey should keep his council, he should have got us up but failed. Failed at Swansea, last chance saloon for him now.
I imagine you like the rest of us thought we were extremely unlucky in play off final against Wednesday?…. When a series of events went against us i.e.Sending off, No penalty, Connell shanking a sitter?….well the manager was also unlucky on that front, I am happy with what we have in new manager but won’t start slagging Duff off as if he was crap bcos he wasn’t mate
So they pocketed the money? That must explain the debts and the reasons they've putting money back into the club?
We were unlucky against Wednesday mate no disagreement there. The line up is completely down to him though. Id suggest we actually played better after Phillips was wrongly sent off to due to players feeling injustice. Fact is though he got us to same place in league as Collins, the play offs, just Duff had a much, much stronger squad
What’s the end game for ‘managed decline’? What’s in it for the owners? Ps, I don’t know what’s in it for most owners anyway, most just seem to lose money. I’m just keen to understand what’s in it for any owner to oversee the decline of a football club in real terms.
What is the problem with what MLH has said? Why don't people like it? Connor Chaplin said similar things in an interview a while ago. We're a selling club, end of. I'm not saying that's a bad thing as we have to sell to survive and keep the club going but the way it's been planned and executed by those off the field has been pretty damn poor at times over the past few seasons. Last season Collins was dealt a terrible hand with the lack of appropriate defensive reinforcements. I haven't used the term "happy clappers" in my previous posts so maybe you're referring to another poster on here. I'd say there's a lot of negativity towards MLH's comments and not just from so called "happy clappers". I don't get it, for me he's bang on the money with what he said. Now if he slagged off the town and or fans, that's a whole different thing. Like last season, I'll be getting right behind the head coach and players, I just hope the board don't **** Clarke over like they did Collins. I was actually one of those who was extremely supportive of Collins right up to until the Blackpool game despite the constant negativity from a lot of posters on here.
Getya point statistically all day long, but don’t forget we were in a **** state when he arrived. He git best out certain players, Kitching in particular, alus a favourite of mine btw, so we dint do bad getting £4 million for a player who looked million miles away from that(mind the pun) b4 Duff arrived, opinions tho innit
He’s not wrong & I wish we still had him as manager. He’ll get Huddersfield promoted & leave them in a good position before inevitably getting the Burnley job.
Correction. He developed a £10m defence. Bristol Rovers fans weren’t exactly gutted when Thomas left & Kitching was dreadful for us the season before. It’s not like he had three ready made championship standard defenders
It’s obvious why people don’t like it, and it’s been stated numerous times on this thread, by myself and others. Duff failed to get the Reds promoted, and that’s why players were sold. His failure wasn’t down to selling players or not being ambitious. He fell short, and was sacked in his next job for not being good enough. Just seems a cheap shot from someone that not achieved anything higher than league 2. That’s why people don’t like it. I’m not bothered about him talking about lack of ambition generally, I read it on here every single season at some point or another - he should be a bit more professional I know you didn’t post about happy clappers, that was someone else, but it was said and ‘liked’
That’s a good point with regards to ‘fire sales’ as well to be fair. Anderson and Kitching were excellent that season, but hadn’t always been. We were bemoaning selling them, but I’d have gladly given Andersen away prior to that. Sometimes you just have several or more players peaking at once and wanting away, then the following season you can’t give players away.
You would have given Andersonnaway season b4 ?…. end of conversation mate sorry, he was never a player we were giving away. His last season was his best obviously but no way would be given away
