…and we’ve still not replaced Cole or McAtee, it’s not really good enough that… is it? Unless we pull out a minor miracle Max Watters starts Friday… that is very, very worrying…
I think we've done fantastic so far in the window, fetched in some great players. I have no doubt we will bring in more before the window closes. Were in much better position than a lot of other clubs.
Not sure if this is sarcasm… we were told the majority of the squad would be in by Loughborough. Personally think this window has currently been a massive failure.
It is slightly disappointing that we still need 2 strikers but still not the end of the world. If September 1st comes around and we still have this attacking lineup, then I would agree that it has been a failure but we won’t. Didn’t we sign McAtee really late in the window and he worked out okay.
Like TTTF said, i think we've had a good window so far: Gent Roberts Hourihane Craig All look great additions. 3 weeks till the deadline closes and we're a striker and goalkeeper short. In that period we've got home games against Mansfield and Northampton and away games to Lincoln and Crawley. Cosgrove more than good enough at this level and on paper we *should* have more than enough to compete for most of them games. Would be far more concerned if September 1st we dont have another striker. At the moment I'm certainly not very very worried though.
Not just us that has not got all deals done. It's been a tricky window for most with lack of signings by big clubs. We've also had euros, copa america and Olympics where many of the players from big sides have been involved in meaning they've had extended breaks etc. so they've taken fringe players on tours and that which delays transfers all down divisions. Would we have liked more done by now? Yeah of course, but still plenty of time to get what we need done. McAtee was added late last window too.
I also think we’ve had a good window- so far! Manager in early. A much more organised preseason schedule. And we’ve made some good signings. We do need a striker or two but as a few have pointed out a lot of dominoes fall at the end of the window. We have a new season on the horizon let’s stop looking for things to criticise and get behind the club.
Think it’s obvious we haven’t got all the targets we wanted and if I’m honest it’s a tad disappointing we are going into the season about 3/4 players short especially in the forward areas but we should have enough to get us through till the end of August when hopefully by then the squad will look a lot stronger.
Goalie, attacking midfielder and 2 forwards plus I’m expecting Styles to leave before end of the window.
25 or so first team players to choose from we'll be reight, you can only play with 11, we'll av to play to our strengths, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
I get what you’re saying but if we want to compete for the top six this season we’re going to have to replace quality with quality when making subs which wasn’t always the case last season plus we already have a few injury prone players.
I think everyone who's been replaced is an upgrade plus we've added much experience in players who want the best for the club and not here for one last pay day. More work to be done but players who score goals were always going to be the most difficult to get in. Hopefully our patience will be rewarded I would rather wait than sign the punts we did last season.
I personally think our strike force looks terrible. Obviously still time before the window shuts, but if you’d told me eight weeks ago we’d be starting with Cosgrove and Watters up front, I would have laughed.
Your spot on sir, but weve got to build from within an hopefully some of the lads i've seen pre season could an should be stepping up, Lost 4 decent players, recruited 4 decent players. C,O,Y,R.
If that's the front two come close of the window I would agree with the word terrible but all suggestions are that it won't be. Clarke said judge us at the end of the window so I think he anticipated this scenario patience is a virtue or so they say.
