For those of us who started watching late 60's on, he was our Skinner Normanton. An incredibly hard - but usually fair - tackler. And not devoid of skill. 100% and beyond.

    RIP Alan.

King Ronnie hadn't joined when I started watching, so in prep for my first Reds match my Uncle Pete had briefed me on players to watch. McCarthy, Pugh and Derek Bell were mentioned be he said to watch out for Alan Little; I'd love him.
I was a young teen still wanting to be a footballer - the biggest criticisms of me were that I needed to get stuck in more. "Pay attention to Alan Little, watch him tackle." Uncle Pete insisted.
I was blown away, as I was by the rest of the team over the next few years.
So Alan Little genuinely was one of my first Reds heroes and I hope he can Rest In Peace.

Sad news this. Without a doubt Alan ‘Animal’ Little was the hardest player I’ve ever seen in a Reds shirt. Watching him go into a 50/50 challenge was a sight to behold! As others have said he could play a bit too.
    RIP Alan….

RIP Alan (Animal). It was always a pleasure watching you and terrifying (in a sporting way) your opponents.Sad day for BFC.

That makes me feel old ,one of mine too,not as good as his brother Brian ,but he could stop them that thought they could play.

Anyone else remember the time he tackled near the touchline and went through the player, and Linesman and only stopped when he hit the wall?

Upsetting. Loved the man. Toughest player I've ever seen in a Reds shirt. RIP Alan.

My first hero in a red shirt.

69 is no age, a proper hard man who never shirked a tackle.

Hopefully the club will do something before the game tomorrow.

I can't imagine Trevor Brooking, in his pristine claret and blue kit, enjoyed playing against Alan Little in that muddy cup tie at Oakwell...
    RIP squire.

You’d hope the club do something but we’ve not even acknowledged it yet. All his other clubs have already put out a statement.

Really not the thread to have another dig at the club.

Rest easy Animal. Huge cog in the team that began the journey out of the dark ages.
