Judge us by the end of the window…….. Why do we need nearly 4 month to sign possibly 6/7 players? Weve let alot of high earners go and 4 of last seasons starting 11 leave plus 3 go back to loan clubs. I may be missing some too there. We leave signings to the last day in January ever wondow and are going to do it again! No other club messes about as mush as we do im sure of it. We try to think were promotion prospects. Look at the other teams forward lines and then have a glimpse at ours. Its embarrassing. Other side have options and game changes to turn to. There must be some money there as were 100% a lot behind wage wise than last year and spent hardly anything. Few quid on Gent and thats it. I thought Clarkes subs and switching formation last night were really good and effective. Issue is you need a goal and turn to the bench and theres nothing there. Its frustrating more than anything as all the fans buy in, new shirts, season tickets, excitement for the first game and we turn out a squad thats no depth and we are told we are very close. We were getting business done early and weve been close for weeks.so close that we sign our goalkeeper and announce him 5 minutes before kick off! The wait better be worth it and some proven goalscorer signed. Bit of a rant i know and were one game in. Just find the whole transfer saga every window at the club dragging on and then were left disillusioned at the end. I dont understand how we dont have a few targets at the start and go all in to get them. If they dont work on to the next.
While I get its frustrating most clubs in the same boat I reckon - waiting for quality not quantity. Chelsea keeper been at Olympics for example, other young prem loanees on overseas tours as seniors rest from Euros. Other clubs waiting on other deals. Most clubs squads will look a lot different on 1 Sept then they do now. Bigger gripe for me is why window can't shut before season starts.
Yeah understand that. Think its just frustrating more than anything. Game was there for taking second half and we had no one to turn to.
How many clubs do you see buying and loaning players within the last few hours of transfer window mate. Every club do it besides the elite! Just the way it is. We are nothing out of the ordinary
