I don't think that's their fan zone, so to speak. It's completely independent from Newcastle United, but as the Stadium is in the City Centre, it's close by. I believe it's just opened (I've not watched the video, my Mrs is still asleep).
I asked the chairman at Accrington what theirs cost and he said it was just shy of about £2m I think he said it was a 30 year investment I guess it would have to make about £100k a year to cover the interest which is about £4k a match day. I have no idea how many pints / pizzas that is. plus would assume there would be other ways of making money from it. Kids parties , adults parties, events etc would seem like a decent investment to me.
Newcastle CEO says its a partnership with the club and a private company. As such it does seem to be an official fan zone, maybe alongside all the other club options.
Call it a fiver for a pint and it’s only 800 a match day and that’s only selling pints! Seems such a good investment but alas will never happen.
