After a shakey start we dominated the second half and with better finishing we should have got at least a point. Cosgrove is no D Cole when it comes to finishing and Watters looks reluctant to shoot. But some good points from the game - including a new keeper). With a couple of additions we will be fine. At least our new head coach had the boys to change it round after 24minutes when Russell came on and to be fair(and I have been a critic) did quite well.
I'm sure you're not wrong but the fact we're looking at "should've got a point" at home to Mansfield as a positive is depressing
Yes I think we did to be fair. My one positive from tonight was Clarke realising it wasn’t working and doing something about it early. Never understood this wait until half time thing, especially now you can make 5 subs. Felt a bit sorry for young Gent, but he was always going to be the victim in a change of formation. And agree about Russell, we have plenty of decent options in midfield all of a sudden. frustrated. But not all doom and gloom. It’s 1 game out of 46 after all.
To be fair i have always dreaded Russell coming on but tonight the lad showed willing and in Duffs words began proving there is a footballer in there

Imho...we probably did deserve a point based on chances overall and an improvement second half. That said I thought the stags were good value their aged team wanted it more first half and moved the ball better and had far more effect in the final third. I really really want Watters to come good but how long have we had him now? successive coaches have tried him and can't get a tune out of him....he just isn't a good footballer, his replacement last night doesn't look the part either. I hope our board have the answers in terms of better strikers...we are crying out for. Mansfield did a number on us last night and well done to them. Analysing our performance we still have a long way to go in terms of how we set up and transfers in. There were a few green shoots with Luca, Roberts and the last sub Lofthouse all performing well.
Can't go along with that because I thought Mansfield thoroughly deserved their win. But for Killip near the end it would have been a bigger margin.

I wouldn't say we deserved a point after effectively being killed in the first 25. If we are going to use the word 'deserved' then we deserved to pull a goal back.
