    we are supposed to be signing has suddenly had a change of mind after last night.

    On the other hand he may be thinking, I can make a difference here.

    Disagree. You play your best players to have the strongest team available to pick up three points and expect them to play with the effort you'd expect any other game.

    Why? He's still Mansfield Town's employee until his contractual situation says otherwise. If we are to sign him, then personally I'm glad that he's professional enough to turn out for Mansfield and try his best, probably knowing that he'll be a Barnsley player this time next week.

    I didn’t mean in a professional sense. You’d expect a footballer to still perform despite interest from elsewhere, unless you’re a certain Hungarian international. More that Mansfield wouldn’t want to risk an injury if the rumoured fee of £500k+ was anywhere near being imminent.

    If the rumours are true the lad was stuck between a rock and a hard place. A strange decision by Mansfield of course they had every right to play him but he is moving here what position to put him in couldn't win really.

    At one point I thought Connell had scythed him down and thought he’d roll around and get Connell booked.

    Maybe it wasn’t that bad - but he jumped straight up and I remember laughing and saying to my lad ‘he doesn’t want to get his new skipper in trouble’.

    Not sure if he’s coming or not. I actually thought he was ok last night but not much more than ok. He wasn’t their best player.
