Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but I haven’t seen it. Certainly the second half anyway: when defending corners - we left two forwards up so they left three back. Much better than everybody cluttering up the penalty area.
Best one and most waste of time was the keeper passing to defender in the area or vice versa and Mansfield not remotely interested in trying to press cos they where ahead. Absolute nonsense tactic.
In the first 20+ minutes their movement to find space was killing us. They were going through midfield virtually unchallenged. Clarke took off the new lad Gent, put on Russell and went to a flat back four (4-4-2). It then became a more even contest.
That's something that's bugged me for years, I don't remember Derrick Parker marking up in our box for a corner, he'd be on the halfway line.
Said that at the match last night refreshing change from last season. Despite the loss I enjoyed the match nice to see us having a go shame about the first 20 minutes.
I agree - if was a decent game but soooo frustrating. After the opening 20 minutes giveaway we were well on top and shot after shot fizzed just past a post or just over the bar, and we missed a couple of easy ones. The football was good enough to show us that with a couple of key additions we’ll be alright this season. I’m not predicting a finishing position but we’ll be close to the top again.
