I think they aren't the best either but after one of the best away wins and "team performances" in years. Vastly disrespectful. We won. I've posted some crap tonight but I know a bloody good performance when I see one.
I think Lopata will be needed for the first team squad. Agree with sending Marsh out, but not until we've got new strikers in.
Reckon Smith will be loaned, think DC has hinted at it. Assuming we’re bringing at least one forward in I’d also loan Marsh assuming there’s any interest. He’s not good enough at L1 level I’m afraid.
Smith will likely be loaned out. Lopata, from what I’ve seen of his career, seems like he wants to play minutes so maybe he will request that? I would rather keep him here as cover though personally. Can’t see Watters or Marsh going out until we bring in some forwards. Even then, I’m not sure both would leave. I would also possibly loan out Yoganathan at some point this season. Maybe the first half he can stay and play the next round of the league cup and then the EFL cup games but once they’re done, I’d be tempted to get him some game time on loan.
Lopata looked relatively assured when he came on yesterday imo. If I were to send any CB put on loan it'd be MDG closely followed by Earl going on last nights exploits! MDG seems to actually want to give the opposition chances! As a unit, the defensive players really need to work on their control and passing. They look so uncomfortable with the ball at their feet. The opposition see this and start to press much more aggressively. When they see a defence thats comfortable playing the ball around they tend to not press as urgently as they don't see the benefit. As it stands, we're drawing teams onto us. We should be getting it into midfield at the earliest opportunity and getting the strikers to actually stretch the back line to create the spaces in the middle.
MDG is a liability, don’t get what some see in him. Prone to giving the ball away, slow and not physically strong enough.
Earl is too slow mate. All our defenders are, that’s the concern with playing 3 at the back. Opposing sides with pace get in behind far too easily.
He had a handful of good games when he first joined and then as soon teams realised we were starting all our attacks through him & started closing him down he’s not been much use. For me the only thing that’s keeping him in the team is that he’s left footed.
I’d be keeping both Watters & Marsh as 4th & 5th choice with two new strikers coming in. We need options up front with a busy program & an extra cup game due to winning last night on top of the Bristol Motors cup games
