But you do appear to have written him off. Personally I thought I had seen an improvement in his recent appearances especially when linking others into the play.

How many apps look on wiki, not many with one goal.

I am yeah, based on all I have seen over the years he has been here. Not just based on this first week of the season. If we want to get near the top 6, we need much better than Marsh.

I am sure he is a top bloke and he is a local lad and all that, would have loved him to come through and be a top player for us but he is nowhere near L1 level sadly.

Get what you saying pal and good job we persevered with Banksy, I have to admit I doubted him when he first got into team. Always remember he got in side same time as David Speedie… Speedie got transferred to Darlington for next to nowt, was gutted as he showed more promise than Banks back then. Obviously he then had a very good career

    Not really.

He has never held a spot down here under multiple head coaches, nor has he held a starting spot on loan in the National League with York and Scunny.

He is only on the bench currently as Jalo is out and we have no other options. If they get the 3 attacking options they are after, he wont make the squad at all, I would put good money on it.

Speedie left because of a ‘falling out’ with Allan Clarke,it had nothing to do with his perceived ability or not. Indeed,he had obvious talent, but Clarke was King and no-one questioned him, apart from Speedie of course;)

Another King questioned Clarke. Asked to play as a deep lying midfielder he went on a mazy run and scored his first goal for Barnsley and got dropped for his troubles. Unlike Speedie, Ronnie was given another opportunity and became the greatest midfielder I've ever seen wear the red of BFC.

Well tbf if you didn't know he was out for 6 months with hamstring tear had op, then had another month out with further problems.
He was took to ST George's at England set up at 16 ,was took on pre season tour of Germany with Stendel.
He as had a tough last couple of seasons ,with hardly any starts apart from micky mouse cup.
Let's not write him off before he as had a chance ,25 games 3 goals is hardly a run of games in 3 seasons ,let's be fair.
Banksy did get stick ,speedy got stick ,Agnes got stick all local lads ,even Phil Chambers got stick in 70s .
Hope he is at least given a chance before writing off, same as Jalo and Yoga

We've always thought home grown players weren't good enough. Phil Chambers and Joe Joyce weren't in the 80s. Nicky Eaden and Andy Liddell weren't in the 90s. Other players from the 00s, 10s weren't seen as good enough (Digby, Fallon, Rose, Nobel-Lazarus, etc). Now Marsh isn't good enough in the 20s. It'll only be a matter of time before its Vimal, Jaio or Bland that aren't good enough.

It really frustrating to hear these negative comments about local lads , I remember a young lad called Mick Clarke I think in the 80s ,got so much stick from the Brewery stand, I made an effort to shout loads of encouragement to the lad as he had potential.
Can't remember where he went but was snapped up for a reasonable fee ,as we were skint.
Too many coaches putting our players down before they get going.

Same era, there was a bloke who used to sit behind us in the West Stand who reckoned John Beresford was ****, and would happily tell anyone who'd listen. Ditto Mark Robinson. Unbelievable really.

Why? Not every academy player can make you money. For starters the ‘stars’ need to have team mates who they play with.

If Jalo & Yoganathan make us money I’m sure the board won’t mind if Marsh never brings in a transfer fee.

And where’s this idea come from that Marsh was some big hope? We let his contract run down last summer. He was available on a free.

Someone like Marsh isn’t a problem to the club at all. He’ll be on very low wages & pads out the squad been able to feature in cup games, U23 games & come into the first team when there’s injuries / suspensions.

The problems are players that come in for fees and / or on good wages like Benson, Leya Iseka & Oulare. They’re what mess the club up financially.

    Well said.

It’s a bit bizarre to claim he failed at Scunny. Got injured in his 2nd or 3rd game & came back here.

At York he only had a months loan, started a couple & on the bench a couple & then we recalled him as we were short on bodies.

You would think he had full seasons at both & that he was deemed useless with the way some speak about him.

If I’m honest I don’t think he’ll make it as a top end league one forward but I also don’t think Jalo will & I’m not sold on Yoganathan like some are. I think it’s quite a weak crop that’s come through the academy in the last couple of years compared to some of the players we’ve brought through previously & I think a lot of the hype comes from people like Hassell over praising them in the media rather than anything they’ve done on the pitch but I’d love to be proved wrong & certainly won’t be writing players off after so few appearances like many on here seem to.

Speedie went to Darlington for £5,000. He did so well there that Chelsea paid £70,000 for him. No sell on fees then as far as I know.
He played over 500 games after leaving us including Liverpool, Coventry and several others. Oh and he got a few Scottish caps. We all loved what Allan Clarke did for us but this must be one of his biggest blunders.

If he was a quality player would he not be in West Brom’s team.
