Bannan 34 years, Hourihane 33yeats old yet we keep hearing Connor will not be playing many games or cameo role. Just watching Sheff wed vs Leeds and Banban still influential and playing 90 mins....

As much as I hate the Scottish lovely person his career stats are better than Conor’s.
But he’s still a massive **** and I love to hate him.

Bannan wishes he was as handsome as Connor.

lies lies and damned statics. Conor is/ was a far superior player. Bannan got into his comfort zone and stayed there.

Conor scored more. Assisted more. Impacted games more regularly

I take it back. I’ve just looked again and thought I was looking at the stats the wrong way round. Baldy Bannan has seen his career decline from premier league prodigy to bigger fish in a tiny pond with massive support.
Conor worked hard to get to the premier league and only came back to Barnsley out of a love of the club.

I';d have Bannan at Barnsley now.
He does have vision and ability to pass quickly. Sheff Weds would be nowt without him.

I'd say they're about even. Bannan's fringe cancels out Hourihane's posterior splinters.

Ar Conor was leading Barnsley into the Play Offs, before we sold the family silver, then enjoyed a few years in the big time including international matches. Earned his stripes throughout English football, now enjoying a stress free pre-retirement back at his spiritual home.

While Bannan's been trying, and failing, to carry a basket case outfit for 10 years. What a waste of a career.

Think Bannans doing a great job ‘influencing’ Wednesday to be abject in the last two games

    I'd rather look like Connor.

Still laughing at Bannan's missus on twitter haha, imagine getting into bed with Barry every night.

One wants to play the other wants to coach.

Couldn't you ask the same question with Whitehead, Devaney, Stead bud..? I think he will be very inspiring to some young lads in our squad. He flourished here and there's no reason others can't and have a very comfortable life. Yoganathan for example. Do well here and you'll have chances.

He played 41 games in the league last season. Only a few months ago. Not bad for someone who only wants to coach!

Bannan is a fine player. And not as much of a ***** as he is on the field.

In the tunnel at Wembley the other year, quite rightly, he and teammates came by drinking beers and being understandably happy as we were making sure the rights-holders got their interviews with our own very dejected players and staff.

Bannan made a point of coming up to me after Duff had spoken with Sky to say he understood how awkward things are in that post-match moment, he said Barnsley didn’t deserve that and wished us well etc. Yes, easy to say when you’ve just won in the 120th minute. But still, he had no reason to even say hello. My missus’ son played with him at the Sty years ago so I kind of knew him. But still.

Few minutes later, Darren Moore finished his Sky piece and came across to me and my colleague. Now, I know Darren quite well, so a bit different. But, the first words he spoke were “I’m so sorry Andy, you didn’t deserve that.” then bear hugged me. I’d been disappointed and angry up until that point, but then I just felt sad. Nearly cried.

Anyway, in terms of who is better, Bannan or Hourihane, I don’t think there’s much between them. Great careers. I’ve seen more talented players disappear from the game. Says it all.

As for Conor’s lack of game time - who does he replace? He is not better than Luca (his position). Not in 2024. Phillips is the best player at the club (feel free to argue with me but I’m right). Absolute gash last week, but look at his numbers. Ridiculous. Better than the legendary Hourihane at this level… Craig, Russell, Benson and the new chap - Kelechi? - will fight for the third spot.

    Just my opinion!

Obviously football's a game of opinions, but from where I'm sitting, Bannan is one of main reasons Wednesday haven't been successful these last few years.

He's got so much ability to see and play passes long and short, to dictate play, and to create chances, he really should be a star beneath Prem level. But every time I've seen him play, his managers seem to have built teams that are all about getting him on the ball in his own half, looking for 50/60 yard balls that rarely come off. The year they beat us in the play-offs was 100% despite their tactics than because of.

When we re-signed Hourihane, my only reservation was that we might end up playing him a little bit similarly to the way Wednesday use Bannan.

We were not exactly short of coaches at Oakwell when Hourihane signed on. I feel most fans were under the impression that he was returning to Oakwell to play quite a few games or part of games this season. Of course it is early days but reading between the lines this will not be the case.
