I never rang Clubcall to be honest lol. But I remember being annoyed at what little Teletext/Ceefax info there was about the club, in them days.
I'm not necessarily convinced by this guy. He's quite clearly nowhere near good enough for the championship but his record is fairly decent at league 1 level (nothing special but okay). He'd certainly bring a bit of much needed pace to our attack. Just not convinced he's the guy to get 15+ and be the main man.
So that's 16 a season if he plays every minute of every game. So realistically it's about 10 a season. It's a little bit meh for me, if we do sign the lad, I think it's a very much a downgrade on Cole (who wasn't a massive fan of anyways). Cole averaging 1 in every 2.6 games at this level, with it being significantly better in the last 2 seasons. Ennis did score a goal every 153 minutes during his last league 1 campaign but that's fairly anomalous for him. So while I wouldn't be disappointed with his signing, he's not really the quality I'd have wanted us to sign at the start of the window. We can bang on about signing the right players not just anyone but for me, there's certainly been better strikers on the market, who would have been well within our price range.
You absolutely shouldn't use basic statistics like that as your sole reason to recruit someone but it's as in depth as I can be arsed to go, way more nuance in it than that. You can tell the Tesco carrier bags Vs RB Leeds game has been crap that I'm doing maths on a Friday night.
Played in the same League One promotion winning team as Cosgrove. Perhaps the club are interested because they think they complement each other effectively.
Asked my mate with a Blackburn st about him and here’s his direct response “Hahahahahahhaahhahaha He is widely acknowledged as our worst signing in recent years. Was with us for six months, never got fit, scored one goal in the cup vs league two opposition, and no one could believe our luck when Stoke paid actual money to take him off our hands“ sounds ideal.
I’m more interested in his performances in this division when he was a key player in a team that got over 100 points. I’d take him in a heartbeat. I think the mast majority of us would.
On loan for the season, he looks as good as we can get at the moment, so I would take him. He seems a bit of a confidence player, but so was Cole. Clarke is reckoned as a good man manager and I would hope that he could get Ennis firing again at league one level, ready to re-launch his career. He is still only 25, so he needs to get himself going again. It looks our best bet.

Comments such as below from Stoke fans are a real concern some are quite extreme: One of those players that after 10 minutes of his first game you say to yourself “he’s w@nk” but then hope that you are wrong! Unfortunately your bang on and he’s utterly pathetic , we have had some dross up top and this lad is up there with the worst !
