Football Heaven on X: "️ “We’ve got to knock the softness out of them, the way we train. Make sure you want to win at everything you do.” Barnsley boss Darrell Clarke speaking after the 2-2 draw against Northampton #BarnsleyFC | @BBCSheffield https://t.co/YvJdRHhFXE" / X
The thing is, I don't think he's done much wrong today. I actually think he's got the subs right. I said to the lad next to me when their player went down injured, that it'd been a strange game where we probably didn't deserve a half time lead, but could have been home and hosed by the 70th minute. But it's another game where our attackers have taken 2 chances and our defensive unit have conceded 2 avoidable goals. Of course we need another couple of attacking options, but we need to figure out how to stop leaking those silly goals. It's at least 1 every away game and at least 2 at home, and has been for the best part of a year.
Disagree about the subs. Made too many changes which resulted in us being very disjointed. I want to give him a chance but not convinced at all by his management so far. People used to have a go at Colin's for not having a clear style of play, but **** knows what DC's plan is.
You can only stop their goal number 2 by changing the keeper. Not much figuring out needed there. We could have leaked 2 goals in the first half before we got going. Let's face it - 2 games at home, where the best we've deserved is one point. Against the more likely lesser teams in our league. One game away, where we deserved no more than a point. It was a win, but not an indication of more points to come. I'm watching these games and I want to see something to enthuse about. There is no individual player's performance, nor a semblence of a "team" , to so far make me think "possible promotion". If our attacking strategy involves long balls to Cosgrove, Watters or Cotter, we're doomed.
I’d agree with this we ended up with lots of random players not playing in any set formation lost the focus and structure
I'm convinced if he'd left things Tuesday vs Man Utd U21s and today we would have won. To much tinkering.
Yes - it was a shock to see a BFC player actually beat a man on the outside and look threatening. The longer the game went on, the more minutes he got, the more you realized that he's better forward than back however.
He’s the only one who seems to have the confidence and ability to take a man on ,we need at least a couple more who can do likewise otherwise it’s mid table mediocrity at best.
Subs baffled me. I'm not sure on hourihanes fitness but to take him off after an hour was a poor decision. We were crying out for someone like him to help manage the game at 2-1. Which doesn't say a lot for the captain and vice captain. 2 points well and truly dropped.
Bit worried for Clarke. It seems he's very frustrated and trying to walk before he can run. Love the guy breath of fresh air but with Sooty and Co in charge I fear for him.
We need somebody in midfield to do what Lofthouse is trying to do on the outside. Then we'll progress.
Can see why Clarke is quite adept at getting clubs out of this division at the wrong end. Got his subs all wrong today. Absolutely threw away those points 2nd half. Imagine taking off a wing back for a centre half when the so called replacement wing back can’t do that role. (earl)
It's why I liked Thomas. Was inconsistent but loved him during that purple patch. He ran & progressed the ball through the middle and it's something we do lack - hopefully Nwakali can amend that.
