Which is why he said he didn't want the West Brom striker as a makeweight in the deal? Obviously thinks he can find better elsewhere.

You are making zero sense. A release clause is basically a negotiation tactic. If Styles had a great season for us last season and we wanted Kitching-esque money, unfortunately, we'd be knackered because he has a 2 million release fee. At the time of the contract, given he wanted out and he was on loan for a season in league above, the board did the right thing in extending said contract with the release clause because it financially secured any future deal

No. I just like facts and common sense.
If the release fee was 2 million two years ago which I'm quite happy to go along with do you genuinely think that two years later with two years less on his contract and two failed extended loan spells at separate Championship clubs, neither of who wanted him, that we were still insisting on 2 million?
This being the same club that chiselled 5 million off Coventry for Kitching by playing hardball.

When was the last time you actually saw the "Club" quote the release figure! You still don't seem to understand the concept of a release clause! It is set as a safeguard for the club but it isn't a minimum fee and doesn't mean that the club can't or won't accept less especially when the player is no longer worth what the release was originally set at years ago!

We know he was not worth that money ,but the management kept saying the release clause had not been met, but it was getting too close to the deadline anf if he didn't go in this window we would more than likely have got zero

Nobody saying its a minimum fee but it usually means some idea of what the club wants

I haven't said i expected 2 million he has never been worth that but that is another fault by our board quoting these figures

Again, when did they quote 2 million?
And if you don't think he's worth 2 million why are you using the supposition that we've accepted less as a stick to beat the club?

As already stated the "Board" the "Club" have not mentioned the release clause, they have said that their valuation has not been met but their current valuation and the release figure are two very different things!

Do you read any of the news reports in any newspaper , online report a bout the saga , because everyone one of them says Barnsley fc have a 2 million pound release clause, and this has not been met, their words not mine, but yet apparently whatever was paid yesterday has met the demand or they have said get what we can

Let's be honest the truth is only about a dozen people know the figure we got so what's the point of debating something we will never know for fact. Whatever it is let's hope it and and any spare coppers they have found down the back of the sofa is reinvested wisely this week.

So, you cannot point to where the club has given any figures on previous or current valuations.
That's me done debating this with you. As usual you just use hearsay and guesswork to attack the club.
There's plenty of things the club get wrong. This isn't one of them.

I can't say for sure because I've not been privy to any negotiations, but I'm pretty sure it was reported that DC said he didn't want the West Brom lad as part of the deal. Unless Doug O'Kane is making stuff up as well?

Every newspaper and report i have seen mentions it can't you read, i dont keep note of time and dates when i see them but ever since he signed the 4 year contract and then went to millwall it has been stated there is a 2 million pound clause to( trigger was the word) a release, so buy a newspaper or read one on line

Are you suggesting the club should have held out waiting for the release clause being met? Because, that was never going to happen.

I have said umpteen times today i know styles is not worth that money but that's the figure the club put on him to release him from his 4 year contract plus if he didn't go this window we wouldn't gt 600 pence, so i haven't a clue what everyone is arguing over. The board have made the statement not me . And before you ask it is in numerous online and newspaper reports from the club
