I care that like me he was born in Barnsley, as he is still young trying to find his way in to a struggling team, we should give him support. IThe first time you saw him play you didn't think he was up to it, what a irrelevant daft comment, you must have this amazing skill where you can determine a players career from watching him once. Ridiculous comment. If he was in a settled team which as a group was playing well you may see Marsh having more success than him playing 5 minutes in a team that is all over the place.
On a decent one as well. Surprised we offered him a new deal to be honest when he’s earning as much as an experienced university lecturer.
He needs to be playing in a settled team that incorporates his strengths in to the team. I hope my lad one day will play for Barnsley and like Marsh I know he would give his all but if he was asked to play when the team was playing poorly and things dont go right for him then threads singling him out it's just not right. When your own turn against you then there is no hope.
I said what I said - I didn’t think he was good enough, doesn’t make me a super football scout - just not clouded by sentimentality- I’m sorry he’s not good enough I wish he was, but he isn’t. Not here to slag him off or pile on him, just stating my belief.
If you're judging after one game, I imagine you've written off some cracking barnsley talent before mate
I don’t have strong views on this other than to say that we’ve let loads of academy strikers go over the years who’ve gone on to have perfectly good careers for others in the leagues; 21 years old could really be too soon to judge him at senior level…
All this 'he's a Barnsley lad so we shouldn't be criticising him' is silly in my opinion. If he's a Barnsley lad who's got to play for the reds than that's great. However, being a Barnsley lad doesn't necessarily mean he's any good and should be kept does it? I'm a Barnsley lad.....
We let Clark leave too early , think he played and scored in last game of season and then we released him . As for Marsh if we played with wingers or created chances he may score a few
At last, somebody has posted/said that on here. And this is not a pathetic thread at all really, is it. Fans are giving their honest opinions about whether they think Adie Marsh is good enough, or not!. And for me, sentimentality has got nothing to do with it.
Always got the impression that Marsh is a finisher. But obviously he's pretty small and not that quick so he's going to have to be absolutely cut-throat in front of goal to make it. I'd still like to see him get a lot of game time this year, either with us or out on loan, to see if he can turn his youth team goals into first team ones. I really hope he can! He's scored a few goals in cups etc. That's more than almost every youth team striker we've had come through the ranks in the last 20 years. He's probably about level with Danny Rose in terms of impact so far. It's only Jacob Brown who has done more, and he wasn't in the academy from a young age like Marsh was
