He has had a pathological hatred of MDG for a long time. Not sure why; he’s no better / worse than the rest.
I dread to think what sort of garbage would be posted again on here now, if this was happening under Collins. And while we're all still moaning about the strikers (or the lack of any quality amongst them), maybe its the defenders/keeper who should be criticised more ehh!.
Last 2 games he has made tactical changes that have cost us the game. We were one nil up and under no threat. Why change tactics at half time, take off a left back and put an immobile centre back at left back? Why pull Watters deeper when he was playing well up front and push Phillips up front? I like Clarke but I'm getting a bit jittery about his tactical ability. He needs to stop tinkering unless it's absolutely necessary.
What do we need, for the avoidance of doubt? It's all very well saying "2 strikers", but they come in all shapes and sizes. So what exactly do we need? Or do we need some other player in a different position?
But Earl's mistake in losing the ball led to Northampton's opening goal at a time when were looking almost certain to win.
600 games as a manager an overall win percentage of 40% You would have hoped in that time he would have the knowledge and experience to see a game like this out, sadly no He will be gone before Christmas
That is a very very good analogy of our position. Listening to other posters it's all about our strike force being sh£#@. Yet we only lost Cole up front. Scored 4 in 3 games ,conceded 5 in 3 games . Look at the bigger picture.
It’ll be a season of struggle this season. I said 18th before the Mansfield game and I’m going to stick by it. You look at the recruitment from other sides and they’re streets ahead of us.
But some of them aren’t. Bolton, Blackpool and Rotherham all currently beneath us. Far too early to be talking down any of our chances. 18th place is usually around the 50 points mark. If we just carried on the way we’ve started ie LWD for the rest of the season, we’d get 60 points. Not a great start to the season, but Clarke probably doesn’t know his best team yet, and I’d be more worried if we weren’t scoring than letting a lead slip.
Barnsley FC is stuck in reverse with owners who don't know which levers to pull to get it going forward again. Both on and off the pitch the club has not improved since they took over In fact things have got worse. The lucky run of signing cheap lower league players and turning them into players others want to buy appears to have finished with the recruitment team living on the memories of past successes but they are seemingly less and less able to repeat them. The new people brought in to run the club on the owners behalf don't seem to be able to turn things roundl
Didn't we literally sell about 10 million quids worth of players before start of last season? You don't think Connell, Phillips, Lofthouse and co aren't saleable assets? We moaned that we had too many young uns in so we started recruiting older players, i.e Pines, Roberts, Hourihane, Cosgrove, Earl, Russell (even though hes only 23), and now we're slagging off and putting it down to 'luck'? We can't just sell millions of quids worth of players every 6 months, it takes time. The new people you mention the owners bringing in have been here less than 5 minutes. Seriously mate, you can't think it's an overnight fix?? The sponsorship deals alone suggests business side is improving already, getting our name out there too. We were all happy with Roberts, Hourihane, Craig and even Slonina, with Smith & Nwakali also here, so recruitment for this season has been decent in regards to the ones actually here. It's vital we get in some forwards but far too early to write anything or anyone off yet.
