Just when we thought Manchester couldn't be any more blue, Citys favourite sons reunite, if you don't like Oasis you might as well leave the country next summer, this is the biggest and best rock band of our generation and its going to be epic, dont care how much it costs I'll be going, its lifetime opportunity stuff.

I just don’t think they’ve genuinely been in a proper “feud” in recent years, I think they’re both guilty of playing it up for the media & been happy doing their own thing & letting suspense build over the years to get to this point, where no doubt they’ll make a fortune!

I don’t doubt back in 09 when they split there was genuine hatred for a few years by the ways.

I'm sure you're right. Just picking their moment so it's been long enough to generate a huge amount of interest while not so long that they're too old to be taken seriously. Fair play to them.

Yeah, I guess there are a few more that I’d break my rule for too, two of which are closer than they’ve ever been. Talking Heads have been doing the chat show circuit and it looks like they may do some shows. And XTC are all back on speaking terms, although given Andy’s aversion to playing live, a tour seems extremely unlikely. The Dream Academy reunited some time back for a few shows in Japan, but nothing over here, annoyingly. Only got to see them the once, so I’d be at the front of the queue for that one. And going further back, if The Hollies did a show with Clarke, Nash and Hicks all involved I’d be up for that one too, given that Clarke and Nash still have decent voices.

I have seen a few reformed bands, come to think of it. The La’s supported Oasis once, although I only got to see half of their final song, There She Goes. I was in the process of splitting up with a long term girlfriend and she insisted we stay in the bar and talk (well, she did all the talking, whilst I just sat and listened to a list of all my failings - it was a long list!). Every time the doors opened to the auditorium I could hear a muffled sound, but my ears have never been good at picking out music when a lot of people are talking. There must have been a lull in all the conversations though and I heard the intro to There She Goes. If I wasn’t dumping the girlfriend before, I certainly was now she’d made me miss the La’s, by telling me, at length, why we should stay together, whilst simultaneously making me sound like Hitler of Mussolini.

I saw The Blow Monkeys at the Lamproom a few months ago too, although they anre about 6 albums into their comeback, so it’s hardly a cash in tour, as they’ve been touring again for years. They were ace, as good as they were when I saw them a couple of times in the 80s. And I saw ELO about 7 or 8 years ago, although the tickets were bought for me as a surprise (it’s unlikely I would have bothered otherwise) and I wouldn’t class them as ELO now anyway, as only Richard Tandy from the original band played alongside Jeff Lynne. Similarly, when I saw ABC at a festival, it wasn’t ABC, it was Martin Fry and backing.

And did Suede reform, or were they just on hiatus? They’re still as good now as they were back in the day and are one of the best live bands I’ve seen. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they’re even better now than they were back in the day, probably down to Brett’s healthier lifestyle these days.

The one I really, really wish I’d seen was Pink Floyd at Live8. Not only did they hold their noses and get back together for one last gig (although David and Roger played together a couple more times) they were brill, and about 90% of the people who did get to see it probably didn’t care that much that they were seeing them.

agreed re suede! What a band they are right now, ferocious live.

I saw ExTC this year actually, I believe it may only be the drummer however so I’m not sure what credence that brings to it :)

Same here. I find them both rather tedious as people, not to mention the music. First album was alright I guess but not really my cup of tea, bit bland!

It'd be a nice change for it to be full for once

I’ve always said they’ll make a comeback and that I’d want to be there for it. Now it’s seemingly happening, I’m not so sure.

I listen to heavier music but did have an indie phase but not sure I can be arsed with the massive scramble for tickets, the price of the tickets and the inevitable crowd consisting mainly of teenagers in bucket hats off their faces and angry indie dads/grandads who have been drinking all day and therefore wanting to scrap with everyone within a 5 yard radius.

I don't understand people who comment on threads if it has zero interest to them, it is a bit odd.

    It’s proper weird.

I think it’s the music snobbery thing. Trying to appear edgy.

They’ll tell you Oasis are ***** & only had one or two good albums but tell you some obscure band no one’s heard of are miles better.

If you don’t like them just ignore the post.

I don’t like Taylor Swift’s music, if there was a post about her I’d just ignore it.

Let people enjoy their hobbies & interests without telling them how **** you think they are.

People who say Oasis only had 2 decent albums clearly haven't listened to the other 7. I'm not saying there all timeless albums but there are some unbelievable songs right the way through to the end. The last great rock n roll band.

You’re missing out. Taylor Swift’s ace. Saw her at Anfield and she was excellent. If you have a moment when your Taylor Swift guard is down, have a listen to folklore or evermore, two great albums, and the ones most likely to appeal to people who don’t think they like her. They were the albums that dragged me in.

Was that the Earls Court one when they were supported by the Bootleg Beatles? The encore of I Am The Walrus, with Oasis, The Bootleg Beatles and orchestra all on stage was quite a sight!

Actually, I’m taking junior, a budding Beatles obsessive like me, to see the Bootleg Beatles at the Leadmill on Tuesday. Should be good fun.
