He’s beginning to add some consistency to his game. At times last season he could do something brilliant & then a minute later do something stupid & he never seemed to be on the same wavelength as his team mates. Last night he was superb. The first time he really impressed me was Portsmouth away towards the end of last season. That’s the first time I’d seen him put in a solid shift in without any silly errors & he did it at the champions which showed he can do it against anybody at our level. Bags of talent, just needed games & experience which is hard to come by when Williams & O’Keeffe were more proven at league one level.
I’ve always said that if you take away his defensive responsibilities, he’d be a decent player at this level. I know we are still largely playing 3-5-2 but there’s definitely been times already this season when we’ve had some behind him defensively. I think he will still probably suffer from consistency issues but then what winger at league 1 level doesn’t? He’s had a very good start to the season and hopefully he can continue it.
He's one of the only players that live in town too. Isn't he the 'reds in the community' champion? Seems like a great lad, happy that he's finding some form.
Possibly his best game so far both going forward and defensively. He had the beating of the defender everytime and I bet he was delighted when he went off. Hope his injury isn't too bad and he's fit for Saturday.
Must admit, I didn't think he'd ever make it. Duff pretty much ignored him. Collins kept giving him a go and you could certainly see some development throughout the season, but he was still more miss than hit. That development has continued and even accelerated under Clarke and his best games for us have been this season. Good on him. If he continues to improve we could have a really good player. Deserves heaps of praise.
Not seen much of him compared to most on here but last few games he's looked a good player to me. Shame we can't play him as an out and out winger as he'd probably be even better attacking wise in that position.
I think the lads put the graft in closed season even before they all came back looks fitter stronger. Maybe he's realised if he wants to play at this level you need more than a decent step over, credit to the lad reaping the rewards well done Bazza.
I saw him have one good game last year, when he was thrown on up front away at Bradford City. Other games he showed glimpses of skill in otherwise bang average performances where at times he didn't look like a pro footballer. This season he is a changed man and I am more than happy he's proved me wrong. He's done that by hard work and being happy in his surroundings. MoM at least twice for me so far and long may it continue. It's telling that Cotter and Watters; 2 players who were at times ridiculed last season, have been 2 of our top performers so far this year.
Worth bumping to say that Barry was on fine form again today! At one point, he could barely walk, clearly cramping up or carrying a slight knock, and some silly get floated a pass out to him. What does Baz do? Takes it to the byline and cuts it back for Phillo to head home the winner. Proper baller.
I bloody love Baz. His energy and enthusiasm are second to none. Not the best player but he absolutely loves it every time he crosses the white line. He's made serious improvement too since he joined, especially this season under Clarke
Been one of our best players this season. Albeit still early days. Adding more end product and less step overs nowadays it seems. And it’s working.
You could never fault Barry's commitment and it's great to see him flourishing under Clarke who I reckon will improve a lot of our players.
I would never criticise a player for taking thr defender on, it shows he's confident. I'd be more worried if he stopped. Maybe he just needs to vary it abit, keep 'em guessing.
