So working in analytics myself, decided to learn more about football analytical models to identify players. I've put together some parameters and then plugged in the dataset from a European division, ranked somewhere between EFL League 1 and the EFL Championship. League I selected was the Slovakian top tier (Nike Liga). Anyway with various parameters, I've found us a new CF haha. Zan Medved, 25 yr old Slovenian. Currently playing for FC Kosice. I've included various parameters into the model including things like age group, height, strike rate, approx market value (debatable how accurate this mv source is), no long term injuries, plus others. My analytical model will be very primitive in comparison to many of the mature ones clubs use, but I've just used this project to develop my knowledge with python etc. So yep BFC should defo buy this lad and tear the division a new one.
Not quite the same (but i guess somewhat similar) In 2017, I woke up one day and decided i could be a football scout. Signed up for a free Wyscout subscription. Spent the evening looking through lots of footage of random european players. Stumbled upon 22 year old Cyriel Dessers playing in Holland for NAC Breda - scored 22 in 36 for them. Think at the time his market value was around £350-500k.
