We are delighted to announce that Reds’ goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has been voted as the Carabao Cup Player of the Round, after his opening round performance in our penalty shootout victory over Wigan Athletic. Slonina, who arrived at Oakwell this month on a season-long loan from Chelsea, made his debut for Barnsley in the game at the Brick Community Stadium. Slonina expressed his delight at winning the award, saying, “It feels amazing to have my debut come across in that way, but we produced a team effort in the second half to get back in the game, and I’m glad that I could be part of that.” “It’s extra special that the fans voted for me, and I wouldn’t have been able to have such a great start without their support.” Continue reading...
