How come Wigan let him go at the end of the season? If he was any good wouldn’t he have a club by now, don’t know a great deal about him that’s all.
He was named as a target earlier in the summer. I'd say he's a striker in the mould of the Swedish lad, and was probably next on the list after him. Not unhappy if true to be honest. Experienced at this level.
He was their highest scorer with 6 of his 9 goals coming from right wing if Transfermrkt is correct. Overall record (Appearances, Goals, Assists) Centre-Forward 136 45 13 Right Winger 31 13 4 Left Winger 10 5 - Second Striker 4 4 - Attacking Midfield 2 - - Central Midfield 1 1 His Division 1 record as a striker is a goal every 222 mins. Played all over the field last year with Wigan.
Think from memory he’s happy to play anywhere and likes to take people on and very good at running with the ball im sure he ran the show against someone in the fa cup last season that was televised.
Yeah I just updated my post. Plays out wide on the right wing quite often, which we don't technically need, but it does mean during games he'll be quite adept out there.
Wiki On 10 May 2024, Wigan announced that he would be released in the summer when his contract expired, Unless they had a change of heart. ?
They kept him there into pre season, I assume to try and get him to stay, he even played some pre season games for them before then going elsewhere.
Would be a good addition I would have thought, as he’s proven at the level and can play all across the front end.
"It’s understood manager Shaun Maloney was initially keen to hold on to Humphrys and Magennis but, with the budget being reduced to a more manageable level, Latics were unable to compete with the deals they will be able to attract as free agents." link
Someone has been on the BBS for tips again… https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/players-you-might-know-who-are-free-agents.332521/
Ah fair enough. I think he was back training with them and their fans were hoping he'd eventually sign the deal he'd been offered previously.
He’s 26, Proven at this level and versatile. Plus it sounds like he’s had the majority of a preseason and won’t be too far of match fitness. If he’s what Darrel wants we should be offering him a 4 year deal.
