Great is pushing it massively. Maybe in May we will think so but it's far too early to be talking it up as great.
I would say decent, without being great. The two strikers today were the bare minimum really, tbf. We now have four strikers though. Humphrys looks like he might be another Norwood-type in terms of graft. DKD is a damn good signing though IMO. Hopefully he's our Alfie May.
I don't think many people would have believed we would or could have brought this amount of quality in to our club this summer and retain our key players. I'm definitely putting it in the great for us category.
I know the last few weeks without a striker signing have coloured everyone’s mood on the window, but if you look back at it now we’ve signed some real quality. Hourihane, Roberts, Craig, Slolina, Gent, DKD, Humphrys, Nwakali That’s a great set of signings! It’s very competitive up the top end of league one now, though. It’ll be tough
I would say we've done alright and I am happy with the window. Proof now is in the pudding so we will see what the next few months bring. Roberts: Not played too well yet. Yet to really get going and hopefully much more to come. Hourihane: We've hardly see him as a bit part player. Craig: Already got injured so not seen enough of him. Gent: Subbed off early on his debut and barely seen since. Dunn: Around 600k for someone with 1 goal in 5 games this season. Humphry: Always a worry when you sign a free transfer during the season because it makes you wonder why nobody signed them sooner. Nwalaki: Not played for us yet so dunno how that will work out. Slomina: 1 clean sheet in 4 and at fault for the Northampton equaliser. Smith: Signed him for the future. As time goes on some will look really good signings and some we will wonder why we bothered because nobody gets 100% of signings right. The team we've put together should be finishing top 6 like we've grown accustomed to at this level, but nothing is won on paper. If we make the play offs or even better get promoted we can call it a great transfer window.
Too early to say if it was a great window. Roberts, Hourihane and Gent haven't exactly set the world on fire this season and we've seen nothing of Nwalaki, Dunn or Humphry to judge them yet. Craig picked up an injury so we haven't seen a lot of him either. Do we judge a great window like the promotion to the Prem season when that team gelled from the outset or do we judge recruitment at the end of the season? Hopefully Clarke can get us firing on all cylinders so at least we're in the play-off mix sooner rather than later and hopefully push on from there.
