Great win considering the relatively weak side we had out. 3-0 away win, can’t fault that. Great effort.
I think we all want him to succeed and be good as he is a barnsley fan. Hopefully he will come good, I haven't criticised him as he is still young but if he wasn't a barnsley lad fans would have been harsher.
He certainly put the effort in and was unlucky not to get passes from Lofthouse and Connell when he was in great positions. It's a long season and he will get his opportunities.
Just in a pub in Crawley with a victory pint, after freezing my knackers off in the sea at 8am this morning at Angmering contemplating wtf was going to happen today. Very professional performance, blew them away in the first half then managed the game very well in the second half. Can't really remember them having a serious chance of note and that's a second clean sheet in a row. We'd have won by even more with someone stouter than Marshy up front as well to hold the ball up, though credit to him as he battled well and created a chance or two for himself from nothing. 100% record so far for me after going to Lincoln, Blades in the cup and now Crawley
Happy to watch us be the dominant team in one of the easiest victories I can remember. Phillips is a class above when he's on song. We seemed to be well organised. Crawley were pitiful however and if that's their standard then they are going down.
It'll be your fault if the coach driver picks up points on his license for speeding or running a red light on the way home now...
Got to say, that referee performance was abysmal. Wed be fuming had we not already out them to bed. But that second half was terrible. Some fantastic tackles, especially Connells, and it resulted in a yellow
Happy with the win, clean sheet a massive bonus. As others have said, you can only beat what’s in front of you, but Crawley sounded abysmal. What worries me at the minute is we can’t seem to get a settled side. Injuries can’t be helped (Watters) but I was surprised to see Roberts dropped, I take it Conor isn’t likely to start another game? We have midfielders aplenty. Where will Dunn fit in with Phillips playing so well? Humphrys has to go straight in next week surely? We can’t keep playing Lofthouse out of position up top, hopefully Watters injury isnt too bad. Nice to see Marsh get minutes & play well, hopefully he can prove me wrong. As I say though, we need to start seeing a settled side. Consistency is key.
Oh and I'm not exaggerating when I say Crawley makes Barnsley look like Monte Carlo. There are of course prettier, more historic and more amenity-rich places than our town, but we're nevertheless lucky to have the town we have.
tbf I don’t think anybody has questioned the lads effort and graft, most of the comments I’ve read related to whether he could contribute enough goals
He were a socialist. How else do you explain the loaves and fishes? As an aside Clarke looks as though he's beginning to get the team moulded properly (not like jelly and not like that fungus stuff that grows on the bath...)
So far Crawley have beaten blackpool and cambridge and narrowly lost to Wigan. We looked really comfortable today not getting carried away though early doors for both teams.
I heard on a podcast earlier that before today, of Burnley's 7 different goalscorers this season, 5 of them have already left the club.
That’s a cracking result. You can only beat what’s in front of you and we don’t often dominate teams 3-0 away from home. Couple that with some exciting additions last night and it’s been a decent 24 hours or so for me. Keeping Adam Phillips (every window) is always superb. Ridiculous talent and the funny thing is, there seems a lot of fans who aren’t convinced. I’ve a good mate who doesn’t rate him. Tells me he goes missing. He genuinely once text me something like “Apart from the goal contributions, what else does he offer?” Hope the Max injury isn’t too serious. But from next week we’ve Humphrys and DKD to throw into the mix. Trip to Old Trafford soon. And Wednesday lost again. Lager o’clock.
