How much more dangerous are we now that O'Keeffe's whipping the right-footed ones in and Kane has taken his floaty garbage to Huddersfield?
Someone said on here about a week ago that we didn’t have set pieces sorted under Clarke, I had to do a double take, we’re definitely going in the right direction as he alluded to desiring for, not long after his arrival….
Aswell as that we now have pines back and signed Roberts who are 2 dangerous center backs in set play situations.
Donovan Pines has scored a goal every 166 minutes so far in his Barnsley career. I think that partially explains why he was preferred to Roberts yesterday. Also, I think Cotter's throw-ins have improved. Roberts manages to get both pace and distance on his whereas Cotter's have always been long, but more floated and largely ineffective. He's certainly taken some coaching from Robbo I think, as he's getting a bit more whip on them now.
Does that warrant O'Keeffe's place in the side though, bearing in mind that he's often absolutely gash?
If you stick 6ft 4 players in the box and launch corners free kicks and throws in you are causing problems. We have Pines Roberts Earl Russell Cosgrove and a few at 6ft 1 Mael, Cotter Humphreys. Phillips is also great with his head. It's a tactic / option that we will must make the most of.
You must have had the same train of thought as me Archey this morning, i was just about to go on wiki look at his goals scored etc, pretty impressive record.
We've not really had a goalscoring centre half since Helik. Robbo's popped up with a few goals but Pines' record so far is very impressive, albeit in a small number of games. Fancy him to get 7 or 8 over the season, which will be a great return.
