When people do a good job, I really think they need to be praised, especially when more often than not, they get flack. I stood near the corner flag in the second half, and have to say that the lass stewarding did a blinding job and apparently really defused a possible situation earlier in the game (possibly caused by the supervisor). Yes, that's her job but people doing it often don't give a crap (just in it for a few quid or the "power" goes to their head) . She did what she needed to do, explained what she was doing and had some banter. This was the woman stood by corner flag with bandaged finger. Thank you
Very friendly stewards and car park attendants, turned up at the car park hadn't booked, explained to the car park attendant that my son was on crutches and had difficulty walking , so he let me park for free in a disabled bay right next to the away turnstile , I've emailed the club to pass on my thanks
Having walked well over a mile from the railway station, the turnstile operator and his colleague were really helpful, giving me several choices of bus routes to get back after the game. Also at the refreshment kiosk, I asked for water, (£2 a bottle) and the lady serving offered to pay for it herself!. I must have looked knackered after the walk and she took sympathy! So yes, a very friendly lot down there as others have mentioned.
Lovely bar and staff at the ground and the lad on guitar outside the bar was half decent really enjoyable pre match drink well done Crawley fc
You seem to get a better feel from former non league clubs, whilst they don’t have the best ground, fan base etc they always seem to get the small things right. Good stewarding, well organised and helpful staff. The biggest clubs couldn’t give a toss.
Yeah i was in this area too. The steward was clearly the type to be a prefect at school and let the power get to his head. Whatever he was telling a fan off for, the woman came over and relieved him of his position and told him what he was doing was wrong. She stayed there rest of game having a laugh with the fans and calmed it all down. Good work.
The club were in constant contact with my visually impaired (Blind, bar the shouting) mate. Another lady I believe called Barbara. Who sorted everything out re the headset etc. I was also at the corner where the female steward was positioned. I'm sure she enjoyed the banter and gave some back. And what's that all abart. An Aubergine lol.
Thought fans, stewards and everyone involved with Crawley were top notch. Friendly, accommodating. Credit to their club. Parked 2 minutes walk from ground. No charges, no one trying to make a quick buck. £18 a ticket. Great club imo. Hope we reciprocate.
Should do a vote after every away game on the whole visiting experience of the away club. Not the match itself but the enjoyment of the stadium, welcoming of the club, facilities, extra mile etc. then maybe a fans award to that club end of season. Maybe something the trust could add value to? Maybe propose it to the other fan groups.
I agree this should be done - but I hope people can separate the match or the performance from the surroundings. In addition, I have to say my best away day experiences have tended to be Accrington Stanley, Crawley Town, and Horsham in recent years.
