What a enormous inconvenience this is 1 day after the kids go back to school.
Has anyone got the exact root and rough times?
Searching seems to be hard to find anything with times.

I believe the road closure are on a rolling basis rather than all day, eg in Mapplewell area I think it's 1-3pm they'll be shut

 

Yeah that's what I'm getting but we've got to get from Royston to town to pick one up and the other has to come home on transport from Greenacre back Royston.
The route looks horrible for that as it not only comes through Royston but then ends in town.

I'm sure there's an upside but I hate these sort of events.

 

Royston based with a kid on crutches at college. Going to be a nightmare on Thursday.

I'm a grumpy **** but I'd rather they didn't bother too. Especially as, as a town, we have f'all cycle infrastructure so anyone that might be inspired to start biking to work or whatever isn't exactly given much encouragement to do so.

I'm looking forward to it. They've mended the roads on route too. It's one day, nice to have a change to the routine!

 

Just feels extra frustrating after the kids have had 6 weeks and 2 days off they go back 1 day then this.
Major disruption for loads of businesses and workers too.
Maybe I'm just Mr Negative.

I live at Royston. One goes to a satellite of Abbey school which is based at Horizon in town, more specifically a hub just off shaw lane.
The other goes to Greenacre, who I'd guess at best will have to send all the kids home half day looking at the route.
The logistics involved at greenacre with all their kids being on buses are phenomenal. I'd be very surprised if they try and operate as normal given the route of the end of the race.
Not only do they have to get all the kids home but all the buses have to get into Greenacre before the end of school having picked up the helper who works on every bus.
I'm sure rhe council took little consideration of the 100s of disabled children up and greenacre when arranging this, but sadly the last 14 years has taught me that most people don't care or know the facts.
As for my eldest at Horizon depending on times the race passes we will either struggle to get out of Royston or struggle to approach the school.

 

We've had an email at work to say it's passing us (in Wath) at about 12:15pm. I believe the roads aren't going to be closed long, and will be done on a rolling basis. So I don't think it'll impact traffic too much.

 

What roads will be closed?

We expect the event to reach the below areas at around these times. Roads will be closed up to half an hour before this time and reopened as soon as possible after the race.

How will a rolling road closure work?
A rolling road closure will mean the race route will be closed up to an hour before the race passes. The roads will remain closed until as soon it is safe to reopen them after the riders go past. Traffic may be held at junctions for up to 30 minutes and there will be no diversion route. Please plan your journey carefully on the day.

 

Hence the likely outcome. It's all a bit of a bugbear for me. Fines for taking children our of school but then I remember my kids being denied access to education for months.

But on reflection I'm sure one more day will male little difference in the grand scheme.

 

Balls to the kids, and I'm speaking has a parent, little shits have enough handed to them on a plate a bit of disruption will do them good. If my little **** thinks he's getting a lift to school on Friday when it's a 10 min walk - he can do one.
