It's bo ll ocks. Pure n' simple Val, Duff and Clarke have b o llox. Collins might have had them on the pitch or in the dugout but not in the board room. That's where it matters.
Good luck more to them than him ! Best prepare em for batsh1t press conferences where they wonder if he’d been at the same game. Hope it works for him but being one of the worst managers we’ve had in the last 10-15 years I have no affection, he’s in good company too with Asbaghi, Schopp, Morais.
There was only ever Jordan Williams played out of position wasn’t there? And he’d played as a third centre back plenty of times before. Already Clarke’s played more players ‘out of position’ than Collins did all last season.
Good luck to him. Overall I thought he did a brilliant job with us. Yes, the last few games were crap but he did a cracking job to get the amount of points he did in the first half of the season especially. Had us in a promotion battle despite a couple of months of - Killip O’Keeffe, Williams, De Gevigney / Lopata, McCart & Cadden with Russell in front of them due to Connell’s absence. I often read on here about how all these (or at least most of these) players are **** & that Collins was **** but he maintained top 6 form with that side so something doesn’t add up.
Nice guy and I wish him well. The way his departure was handled was appalling. It was the right decision but we couldn’t have done worse if we were actively trying.
Good luck to him. He was treated poorly by us, IMO. I imagine he doesn't have particularly fond memories of his time here.
Good luck to him and I hope he does well. A lot slagging him in this thread but I thought he did a decent job with the tools he had. Then to be sacked when he was, that wasn’t right. Although as a caveat to the above, his football style was quite boring. I get that he may not have had the players to change it too much but I don’t even like watching good teams/players tapping it around the back. Blackpool at home still sticks in my mind even now. He got plenty of good results though.
Fair point. But having played CH as an emergency rather than regular position doesn't make you a centre half and he isn't that imho. Especially went we sent CH's out on loan. Shepherd, McCarthy. Lopata after injury.
We were an added time penalty away from beating Bolton and being favourites for the 2nd position us in March, after that we fizzled out dramatically. He gets a lot of undeserved stick from our fans and i hope he does well in Raith.
Ye mate your right about all clubs using data but I think we were being governed by it. Then suddenly were signing 30+ year old.. Just speculating why the sudden swing. SD reckons it's down to Collins lack of Boll*cks. but as always I respect your opinion pal..
Glad he got something else regardless of what you thought of his football he was treated in a shoddy way by us.
Good luck Neill I didn’t enjoy his football but I think he did really well in a pretty difficult job and the decision not to allow him a shot at the play offs, that he had rightly earned, was most unfair. Hope he does well.
The change in tact had to have come from the board, I would imagine it’s the DoF that would be pitching to the board the need for some experience to get out the league & they’ve backed him.
