Ok yeah this is not about the promotion day, even though Wilson was our boss again that day, of course lol. And we came back to win (live on Sky sports), and it was deserved as well. I always liked Lewin Nyatanga..., and also hey, was their keeper a certain Jordan Pickford ehh lol. A future England star player!.
I enjoyed watching that, thanks for putting it on. On paper we were a good side, maybe it was a bit early for Hourihane, Berry and Winnall to show how good they were or would go on to be.
One of the best strikers we’ve had in the last 20 years, if not the best. Shame that how he left the club and where he went tarnished him a bit. Looking back now I’m sure he’d say that the best form of his career was with us.
James Bailey, ex Derby player, had just the one season with us. Did nothing of real note for us really.
I thought he was ok, but also put in one of the worst individual performances I’ve ever seen in a 1-0 away defeat at Preston. He was signed around the same time as Hourihane, Scowen and Luke Berry.
Yeah, I agree mate. Did ok. Nothing spectacular. I was relatively excited about his signing too but didn't pull up many trees. Fairly certain he went to India and Canada after us. No idea where he is now, if he's still playing.
Winnall was unstoppable at times wasn't he (when he wanted to be), and it's interesting to see him alongside Dev Cole that day. It just brings back memories of what might have been, in that second spell with Wilson. I think the club reacted harshly with him, unless some things were done or said behind the scenes etc!.
I have fond memories of this game, because about 30 seconds before the equaliser, I put a tenner on us to win at 6/1.
Eventually yes! But Hourihane took a bit of time to get going, Lee Johnson said he couldn’t play in a middle two, which turned out to be rubbish. Berry didn’t really perform consistently either, and I’m sure Pearson was brought in to help out?
I always thought Winnall got a bit OTT with his celebrations. I mean I don't mind a bit of emotion, but I remember getting a bit scared for his blood pressure when he scored his first in the Play Off Semi against Walsall at Oakwell
That was one of sadly few very good performances under mk2 Wilson. After the early goal it was a very decent performance and I remember feeling at half time even one down that we’d go on to win and were much the better side.
That time in Lg One under Wilson was just too inconsistent, with a home win regularly being followed by an away loss (and vice versa). I don't think we would have been relegated, but we were looking over our shoulders a bit, at the bottom four, when he got sacked.
Personally I love a celebration, the more exuberant the better. Rather that than those ‘celebrations’ of Devante Cole.
