Genuinely not even sure how he managed to do it. At the time I didn't realise what he'd done but on the replay, knowing it wasn't costly, it's bloody hilarious
I've watched it probably close to ten times and still can't work out how it ended up where it did. Like it happened in a different dimension.
It's a bizarre header, but I thought he played really well other than that. He always seems to when he plays on the left. Where as on the right he tends to be average at best.
I did a worse one once. Half the players started laughing. I was playing for the hospital team and for some unknown reason I was centre forward. And for another unknown reason they thought lumping the ball upfield to me was a good idea. Heading was always my weak side, and the captain shouted at me to “get a ******* head on it, flick it on”. So the next time the ball got lumped up to me I was on the edge of their area. I jumped up to give it a subtle flick on, managed to get my head on the ball and it landed about 10 yards inside our half. “Okay Paul, stop heading it”, said the captain. When he finished laughing. I still think Oulare’s effort was worse than mine though. At least I made contact with the ball.
I was saying the same to my brother after the game. O'Keeffe frustrates me immensely. In some ways he seems like quite a limited footballer - a wing-back without much pace will only go so far. Yet his range of passing is absolutely sublime, something he seems to be able to utilise best when cutting infield onto his right foot. A couple of his passes yesterday were up there with some of the best I've seen - one raking switch to Cotter on the right, and another beautiful reverse pass into their box which completely wrong-footed their defence. But defensively he's suspect, and I'm certainly not sure he'll ever be Championship quality - which medium-term is what we're aiming for. As for terrible headers - Cosgrove heading the six yard line late on was also pretty woeful.
He snapped his head sidewards attempting to clear the ball up field, misjudged the flight of the ball and snapped his head sidewards a split second before the ball arrived, the ball hit the side of his head and went backwards. Comical stuff seeing as we went on to win!
Following that, Slonina's starred-shaped Schmeichel-esque save was excellent though. Cleared it with his feet in the end I think.
Couldn’t believe why Cosgrove was trying to head a ball 6inches of the ground looked funny as hell.Probably would have scored if he had kicked the sodding thing.
