Sorry to hear about your car, Fitzy. I'm really pleased that cctv backs you up, and that the police are supportive of you. I hope you get paid out.

I had a bad day in Stevenage, too. I got a parking ticket for parking adjacent to a dropped kerb. I will appeal with photographic evidence that the kerb was not a dropped kerb!

Oh, the joys of being a Reds supporter.

It seems more and more that people go on the attack, even when they are in the wrong, eg when a car cuts you up and you beep your horn at them. Their reaction is usually verbal abuse or finger gestures - or worse!

This happened to my son recently, who works part time as a supermarket delivery driver. A car cut him up at a mini roundabout, and my son beeped at him. The bloke then turned up at the store alleging my son (in his delivery van, behind the bloke) verbally abused him, gave him finger gestures, was speeding (over a distance of 100 yards!!) and almost hit his car. He even threatened - in front of store workers - to punch my son's lights out.

The store has held an investigation with my son, who has got 3 years' unblemished driving history as their employee. The case is paused.

My son can prove he wasn't speeding, as this would have flagged up in store from the dashcam in his van. How can the bloke - from inside his car - hear my son giving verbal abuse from inside his van? And how could he see any finger gestures in the dark?

The bloke has already been proved to be lieing with the speeding allegation. The store should not accept threats of violence to a member of staff in my opinion.

Yet, if my son is not sacked, this nobhead is threatening to "take things further".

Sorry to vent off on here!

What made things worse was the busy body who was agreeing with him, offering to be a witness, exchanging contact details with him and telling me I was in the wrong. What for? Stopping and giving way? Pointing out the pedestrian crossing that was in spitting distance?

My mate had a word with him while I was sorting my stuff out and he was still banging on about ‘seeing everything’, to which my mate replied ‘then you saw him try to open the car door and then smash the back window then?’ He went a bit quiet

It is, and I think we all know that and drive accordingly.

That’s shocking mate. I don’t like the way people can make accusations that could cost your lad his job, but aren’t themselves made accountable if those accusations are found to be baseless, like they sound to be. The physical threat should be enough to involve the police.

Good luck with the parking appeal and to your son with his case.

Did you not try the large free car park directly over the road from the stadium, or was it full?

Beeping at other drivers is pointless. A knòbhead today will still be a knòbhead tomorrow, no matter how many people beep their horns at them.

I remember having the front passenger window of my VW Vento company car smashed through 25 years ago. They were after the stereo - this was back in the days of removable stereo units with pull off front covers for "security" purposes. Didn't do me any good, they smashed their way in anyway and ransacked the car looking for the front cover, which was with me in my laptop bag. So brazen as well, in a college car park, in line of sight of the front door and visible from the road, middle of the working day.

I remember the shocking sight when I returned, the glass seemed to cover the whole car, it was everywhere!

I always seem to forget to beep. I am concentrating on avoiding the potential issue first and then think afterwards that they deserved a blast of the horn. Probably for the best in this day and age.

See my experience above, taking the front cover off didn't help. I think they thought, probably correctly in many cases, that the front cover will still be in the car anyway, just hidden in the glove box. Only mine wasn't.

It would have been less hassle if I had just left the cover on. The VW had a locking glove box and they smashed the lock looking for the cover.

No, mate, I didn't try that car park. I parked in exactly the same spot as last season.

Get your son to go to doctors, tell doc what's happened,mi chest feels tight,I feel uneasy, look up panic attacks, symptoms, say it all to doc,if he's given anything he doesn't have to take it,but you take that to civil court has prove,I don't think it's expensive as people make out, think it depends on how much your going for, doubt you'll get 5grand but it'll be worth summat, the 2hat needs teaching a lesson, trying to get him sack, that would be on his CV makes it harder to get another job 4 lad, there all over place these people.

Not only that but it's actually an offence ( unless the law has changed) , the horn is only to be used to warn of your approach....beeping to admonish someone for being a prat is not what it's for....although I get the frustration, it generally raises everyone's temperature.
