Been in today for lunch for the first time we will go into the one in Meadowhell and was talking to the young waiter and he was saying it wasn’t doing very well.Looking at the prices I can see why, there was one burger there and it was just short of £25 very expensive it’s a shame but people aren’t going to pay crazy prices.
We go in for a couple before home games as we do a little tour around that area. Extortionate. Mrs got a double gin there not so long back and was over £16. We like it in there though. Sit at the bar and have footie on lunchtimes. Think it has good vibes in there and doesn’t attract any dickheads. That goes for Glassworks in general to be fair.
Maybe kids like it but the quality of the food at TGI (and I’m not just on about the Barnsley one), is shocking. I’m guessing none of it is prepared and cooked freshly on site.
We liked it but recent price increases put me off. The only real advantage it’s got is that it’s in the town centre but we can go & get better food for cheaper prices at Mezzaluna, Puccinis, Chilli, Grille, Lemon Tree, Travellers etc all within a 10 minute drive from where we live.
If i go out for food I need to be eating something that’s better than what I can prepare at home. TGI’s is far from that. Absolutely trash
The only meal I like eating out is Fish and Chips from a proper chippy. Never the same from a pub, restaurant or home cooked.
IIRC its the franchisee that runs all the UK branches that has gone bust. TGI Friday as an ongoing international food chain is not affected.
Yeah it alway looks empty when I’m down on that retail park. That should’ve been the Burger King instead of the one planned for Tesco car park that won’t even have a drive thru lane!
That’s right. No plans to the close the restaurants if they can find a buyer. It won’t last long though with those prices and the poor quality. I’ve been to the one in town a couple of times and it was terrible.
I tried it once. I got a similar meal to what I’d get at KFC & I thought it tasted worse, you got less & it was more expensive
I think it’s quite a fun place to go with kids in the sense that the staff sing to them, make balloon animals & it looks well inside with how they decorate all the TGI restaurants but I don’t think they justify the prices. On the few occasions we’ve been to the one in town we’ve had issues. On one occasion we asked for the kids meals to come out with the starters which they didn’t. On another occasion they somehow managed to merge our bill with another random bill for a different table & the young lass didn’t have a clue how to work out who had what so we ended up doing it for her & then we went in last winter & asked if they’d put the heating up as it was freezing & it turned out the heating was broke. Not ideal all sat in your big coats eating your dinner.
It's not even that nice, it's like stuff that's delivered ready to go once someone puts 3 mins on the microwave. It's shame for the staff but no great shock
