The criticism of an 18 year old lad in this thread, who has possibly suffered another injury while giving it his best while wearing the shirt is pathetic.

Who's played well in a lot of his cameos too.

I don’t see what others have seen in him up to now but I wish him well & hope he proves me wrong.

I just don’t believe the or understand the hype. He might be an amazing talent but he’s not made a noticeable difference to our team so far.

He's played around 380 minutes of league football for us since he was 16. He's had some good cameos and has shown glimpses of what he could become, hence the interest from big European clubs - I just find it harsh that people are calling out a young lad who's injured whilst wearing our shirt. It's just baffling to me.

Maybe so but on the other side of that coin I just don’t really see anything so particularly special either.

Offered more in his appearances than either Cosgrove or Watters have in many more. Hopefully he’s ok as we desperately need more quality upfront.

My take on it - he’s a young lad with bags of promise. He’s not the the next Messi who’s going to singlehandly going to fire us to the promised land and is more likely to thrive as part of a positive squad.
What he doesn’t need are unrealistic expectations heaping on him.
Let’s cut him some slack and have some patience.

    Read the OP though.

He’s merely wishing the lad well after another injury. I’m not sure it’s the place to be dissecting his very few and altogether brief appearances.

I wouldn’t mind, but the lad linked well with Benson and forced the keeper into a good save a few minutes before his injury. I can’t remember the last time Cosgrove forced a save. That isn’t me knocking Sam either. Unlike some, I actually don’t mind him. You just need someone around him and mostly this season, we aren’t great at that.

But we are 3rd while getting to grips. Good positive signs. So much to develop, plenty of growth to come.

    I’m rambling again.

Wow can't believe some of the comments lads a kid. Always looked ahead of Marsh for me who's a couple of years older. And watters who probably on 5x his wage.

I posted in the main thread that I wondered what training program we had him on as he looks like he's carrying a bit too much weight to me.

Understand he's at an age where he is filling out (and he has compared to even a year a go, a lot!), it's a delicate balance to not inhibit that and still be quick and agile enough.

This wasn't a dig at him, as I'm sure he does what he's asked in training and works hard………..it's more that I'm a bit worried that we aren't managing his development as well as we potentially can, and that I'm still to be 100% convinced that we know what we're doing behind the scenes.

Bringing a CB through……fine, great, we've done it many times before.

Bringing an attacker through with any success, not so much.

He looks more overweight than he probably is as they seem to put him in toby tyke’s kit every week…

Put one on him that’s not so baggy ffs. He might run a bit quicker if he’s not got a wind sock pulling him back…

I’d pin it now tbh. My sister in law is testament to how when they start popping out they don’t stop - she’s dislocated her shoulder dozens, maybe hundreds of times. It’s getting harder and harder to pop back in and she’s getting arthritic pain in it - she’s 34. She’s always refused pinning surgery - and regrets it now.

I know someone similar in my own family. Loads of dislocated shoulders and time wasted in hospitals having it put back in, but not seen as an urgent case for surgery due to age and it doesn't affect their career. It does affect their social life though when they cannot do any contact event such as a kick around with mates with a Football for fear of it happening again.

Wow some of the comments he's 18yrs old with a few first team appearances and he's already written off. He's our best attacking prospect from our academy yes our academy for goodness sake let the lad breath. As for the injury he's done his shoulder because that shithouse Cashin went through him in pre season friendly and he fell awkwardly nothing to do with fitness.

Absolutely, but then some on here seem to get a thrill off it, they seem to enjoy pulling the club/players apart at every opportunity. They're the sort of people that nothing is ever good enough.

Just reading through the comments & they aren’t even bad, just a few people saying they haven’t seen anything to justify the hype yet.

If people are offended by these comments you ought to read what Watters, Cosgrove, Marsh, Benson, O’Keeffe, Slonina, Killip etc have had said about them on here.

Or look back last season & read some of the disgraceful comments posted about Collins, Kane, Williams, Cole etc from last season.
