Another example of why the death penalty is flawed

Derek Bentley wasn't the last to be hanged, the last execution was a simultaneous hanging of two men convicted of the same murder... Gwynne Evans and Peter Allen, one at Liverpool, one in Manchester in August 1964.

Every time this comes around, I always say that ~10% of those convicted and sentenced to death in the USA since the 1970s are later exonerated. This includes a number after the sentence is carried out. As someone has already mentioned, the Birmingham 6 and Guildford 4 would have been hanged if the judge could have passed that sentence. There will be other, less high profile cases.

And executing someone (in USA) costs more than keeping them in prison for the rest of their life.

 

I couldn't press a button,not for money,I don't go to church(used to be in the church choir when I was a lad)used to get £1.75 for weddings and funerals,but just in case there's an hell I think us English have been talking about assisting death for the terminally I'll, really slow death I suppose embarrassing for poor folk who's got it and painful I think,not sure of the diseases name,a former rugby player died of it recently,but who's gonna inject them or give em a fatal pill,as much as I'm for assisted death if the poor folk suffering want to die,I don't think I could assist them.

She apparently held her hands up all along, and admitted it, 100%.

I don't think I could push a button to execute someone, but I think if I were 100% convinced that a loved one wanted me to help out then I wouldn't hesitate.

 

I understand what you're saying mate,summat happened to me when I was 6,mi daughter is 27 now but when I was in my 20s and she was a child I'd Ave done some serious torture to em,but your better off the wrong ups go to prison because prisoners constantly get em,different subject of course but I wouldn't have thought twice about going to hell on that subject.
