Can anyone help identify the players on this photograph of Jump United from 1957/58. To help with the names there is also a programme from the following season when Jump played in the Challenge Cup Final at Oakwell
I recognise most of the names in the programme. Photo I'm struggling tbh. Year after I was born. But I'll put it on the village Facebook page. I know it'll not take long to work out, if not done already in the past. Loads of us oldies share memories. Edit Passed em onto a good friend of mine who administers Jump community. It's offline at the mo. Are you a Jumper btw. ? Sent you a pm.
Them were t"days...Two full backs, right and left, numbers 2 and 3. Three half backs, right half centre half and left half (4,5,6). Five forrards, right wing 7, inside right 8, centre forrard 9, inside left 10, left wing 11.
Back row 4th from left Goalkeeper Roy Taylor was a surface fitter at Elsecar pit Front row 4th from left with ball Phillip(?) Ardron was a surface electician at Elsecar pit hope this helps
Roy Taylor played cricket for Elsecar, as did at least 3 generations of Swallows. Geoff Swallow would fit that era.
Slight correction mate. Philip Ardron was an underground electrician. His son Neil a surface electrician. We were at college together (Neil) and I worked alongside him. Neil was one of those like me that I mentioned in another thread. That sat the wrong syllabus at college.1976/77 year.
Harry Denton was a lovely man. We lived on the same street. Lovely family as well. Me and his Brother Owen got a good hiding outside pub at Ward Green in our teens. Our crime. Coming from Jump. Good old days lol. Jump Home Guard football team were regarded as one of the best (if not the best) in the area. I think that's how Jump utd evolved.
I think (and stand corrected ) a couple played for Yorkshire, Ian. And possibly his son who I think played if not at 1st team level then seconds.
