Advice needed around moving to the Barnsley area

    Where are you from? like, are you moving back?
    I have lived away for many years. Maybe, if I went back to live, I'd look around Silkstone, Penistone, Hoylandswaine near the Strafford, maybe.
    Good luck.. I hopes it all drops into place for youse..

    My daughter is contemplating moving back over this side of the Pennines and commuting once a week with a stayover in Manchester where she works. The prices around Manchester and Stockport are just way out of her range.
    Barnsley S75 postcode looks an outstanding place to buy. In comparison to where we live in North Sheffield, and certainly in comparison to Stockport.
    For the price of a two up two down terrace in a fairly rough area, she could get a 3-4 bedroomed semi detached with a decent garden in Barnsley.

    I lived there from birth till about six years ago. All family on my dad's side are from Kendray. It made me who I am for better or worse.
    Currently in Honeywell but have talked about moving back to Kendray to be closer to my step daughter at top end (sounds like near you)
    I'll defend Kendray to the hilt.

    That's why I said parts. Very last estate on right as you're heading to Notton is decent as is the estate heading out towards the golf club. Just the bits in between that are crap.

    We used to refer to the inter estate rivalry as the "Kendray raids"... have to say, from those 70s and early 80's days, you defended well lol
