Convoy was one of my favourite films as a kid. Saw it for the first time when, for some unknown (and probably illegal!) reason, Houghton WMC was showing films on Saturday afternoons some time in the early 80s and IIRC those running it thought it was a film about the navy in the war!?!
I reckon in America he was a huge Star. Not a massive fan of his type of music. Nonetheless, he wrote some brilliant stuff. As for films I think that was secondary to his music career. Although having looked at his wiki page he won a golden globe for best actor. RIP sir. Possibly a favourite of most.
Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down Well, I woke up Sunday morning With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad So I had one more for dessert Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes And found my cleanest dirty shirt And I shaved my face and combed my hair And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day
Reading his Wiki, he had a bit of a life. Went to Ponoma college and made Sports Illustrated for his exploits at American football, athletics and Rugby Union, then went to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship and played rugby and boxing. Then joined the army and rose to the rank of captain, became a helicopter pilot and did ranger training. Then left the army, was disowned by his family and started writing songs. I get the feeling that he would have been successful at *anything*. "Tell the truth. Sing with passion. Work with laughter. Love with heart. 'Cause that's all that matters in the end.'" - Kris Kristofferson
