This. Alongside a total inability to retain any manager whp has a modicum of success.

The standard in League 1 is so poor I reckon throwing darts at a board would do better than the James' spreadsheet. Although protecting your inheritance does play a factor. Hope in his next pack we get a gold card.

They can't get a grip because quite simply they are in way above their heads. They haven't got a clue how to run a professional football club and the "football" people they have brought in to make up for their shortcomings don't appear to be up to the task.

Do we think Hourihane would make a better alternative to Clarke, to save some money

Please list who you know is actively seeking to buy our club and take us forward as you’d like.

I think he left voluntarily as he had a job lined up with 777 Partners. His role at Leicester was Head of Analytics which I would have thought would require a different skill set to a Sporting Director.

What a ridiculous post. Neither you nor Sam know whether or not there are appropriate buyers available. What do you think he is, KPMG?

I think the point is that we're not a fashionable club for whom there will be lots of takers. We don't fit the profile for people who want a play thing. Fortunately, given the council situation with the ground, we probably don't fit the profile for asset stripping owners either.

The long and short of it appears to be that we're stuck with the current owners (or they're stuck with us) for the foreseeable future. Unless we suddenly find a rich super fan.

We can't even go down the fan owned route as it seems unlikely we'll raise enough money to buy the club from the current set and generally speaking fan owned clubs operate at lower levels than ours.

I can’t, and I don’t think there is anyone out there who would be interested. So strap in as it’s going to be a bumpy ride this next decade or so. More downs than ups I suspect.

I'm not sure who were trying to be having this philosophy of a DOF implementing a model and playing style throughout the club, its not working, it's over complicating what should be a simple plan at this level and now caused a situation where we've got a head coach scratching round for formations and systems to play, we've got zero identity, I couldn't tell you what we're supposed to be or what we're trying to achieve.

Clarke doesn't get a free pass from criticism but I feel for the guy, massively let down by those above who've tried to play football manager, its 1 home win since February under Mladen Sormaz's watch under 2 head coaches that can't be ignored, something seriously wrong with the set up

What you really want in any division is a set of players who largely go under the radar. Perform excellently as a team but individually largely unremarkable. Premier promotion side was a case in point from a transfer sell on point of view.

Large part of the problem with the spreadsheet is we've found many excellent players who we can't keep for long enough and we end up selling them on and find it difficult to replace.

Same with managers. We've had a decent run of several good/excellent managers who've attracted interest and guess what, they've gone too in little time too. And yes, we've sacked a few not so good ones too. Constant churn is a problem though. You can't run a club and expect to keep challenging when this happens because too many moving variables mean eventually you'll struggle. There's enough examples of big clubs taking a long time to get out of the division, so there's no divine right for us to either.

I'd say we're also guilty of passing up players because they dont/didn't fit the model becoming fixated with systems and styles rather than is the player actually good enough.

I've no idea which players we've turned down because of those things.

I support picking players for a system and keeping them rather than letting successive managers buy players they fancy, getting the sack and then being stuck with them when the new guy comes in. That's sensible to me, not perfect and without it's own problems, but largely sensible.

The model has evolved, and in the direction of wanting experience over young players - something most on here wanted to see and were happy when we've seen those players brought in.

Ultimately the manager and players need to perform to a level they're capable of which I think most would agree is currently not happening.
