Herbie Kane made more forward passes tonight than he did in the whole of last season. You can change the coach as many times as you like but if the style of play they are instructed to play from above doesn't change the performances / results won't improve. The issues at Barnsley FC run much deeper than whose the fall guy in the dug out.
How come we played completely different football then under Daniel Stendal to what we play today? and if James Cryne had it working to a tee with Stendal and Duff and Collins to a degree for 28 games last season he wouldn't have had the need to bring in a DOF would he?
See where you're coming from, but he's just had two opportunities at the same team within a week, and managed to turn in a bad performance followed by an abject one. And that's putting aside the games that led up to them! What exactly are we waiting for from him? Don't know if it warrants sacking at this stage, but I definitely need some kind of idea about what we're aiming for before I put another penny into the club. We look as bad as I've ever seen a Barnsley team, even when we've stolen the odd win.
I agree. But I would question why they are. As has been pointed out earlier, they aren’t doing us any favours. We stump up our money as our investment in the club through season tickets etc. and they have invested in the hope of getting a return on it. Naive as that might be, I can’t think of any other reason why they shipped up in Barnsley. They are now in a difficult situation because they are clearly not seeing the results they expected, but to bail out now would mean writing off several million pounds. So they are currently, I suspect, keeping us afloat and hoping something turns up. Let’s hope it does.
I thought the league game against Huddersfield was abject. This game sullied the good name that is abject! I know it’s a nothing competition in the early rounds… but one ‘shot’ in a whole game. Players walking around. Easy passes misplaced. We have big problems.
That’s the big thing for me. Body language of players is awful. Seems to be no fight, they’re just strolling around. Pride in the shirt is non existent.
Mate, if you normally read my posts I always try and find positives and avoid getting too down about things. One of the things I like least about losing games is reaction it gets on here and social media. I like to get the game out my system and not dwell too much on it, whereas I know others will carry this through to the upcoming games, however far away they are in time. Knives will be out now, ready for the next time we don’t play well, or go a goal behind, and I don’t like to see it. That’s why I agree with you totally. Tonight was indeed Clarkes opportunity to improve the situation, but he just didn’t seem to care one bit, and has dug himself a deeper hole IMO
Agree performances have been really poor and that’s not been encouraging at all. Hopefully some uninterrupted time on the training ground helps us get a direction and an identity. I’m sure if we don’t improve in the coming weeks and plummet down the table I’d reconsider but at the moment there’s a long way to go and I’m happy enough to give Clarke the chance to build something.
That Chronicle interview... We've made the playoffs two seasons in a row. Unless he's just forgotten that he's not managing Cheltenham any more, surely it has to be seen as a message to the board? Even then, most of the other teams Huddersfield have faced so far didn't seem to struggle!
tbh if that’s his opinion/ excuse for tonight he can fk right off! Let’s be Huddersfield looked slightly less **** than us and he reckons it’s a gulf!!It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad, sounds like yet another manager worrying about his job!
