After 2 or 3 poor performances it got me thinking about the Blackpool game. Normally I'm a win at all costs despite how we play but I think our performance in the next game could define our season.Ideally a great display and 3 points would be the aim but I feel a win and another poor performance would only paper over the cracks which are obvious at the moment. So i'm hoping even at the expense of 3 points an uplift on how we play. The squad have played over 20 games if you include friendlies and cup games but I'm not seeing any constant cohesion in the team.We seem to attack our strikers and defenders but I see the midfield as our biggest issue.I can't think of one game where the midfield looks organised and working as an efficient unit,we're either all too forward or all too defensive thus leaving massive gaps when our opponents counter attack us. I was desperate to see Connor controlling and arranging the way we operate but it doesn't look like we will see that which is a shame. So looking at the Blackpool game I'm sure the board and the supporters will be looking for a spark to lift our season and go on an extended run to get us where we want to be.I fear if no improvement is seen the suits could become a little twitchy.I hope Darryl can turn it round sharpish because I don't think time will be much on his side.
Both, really. Most importantly a clean sheet & some clear organisation to our play. We are simply to easy to beat at the moment.
Not overly concerned about one individual result tbh. It's the performance that matters to me. The team need to start looking as if they are improving, gelling and becoming cohesive. If they do that I can live with a 3-0 defeat actually. If they lose 3-0 or worse and there's no shape, passion or movement on show it'll be a meltdown on here.
If they actually look like they want to win - which could include making some positive forward movements, shooting when the opportunity arises and not looking to pass it back into midfield/the wings (or diving in Jalo's case), pressing the opposition and not just idly standing watching them drift past - and we still lose, I'll be frustrated but at least know that they've tried something new and positive, and chances are it will come good against other teams - and mean we're not going to suffer the likes of the two Huddersfield games again. If they serve up the same insipid bòllocks as they've done most games so far and we somehow fluke a draw/win, I'll actually be more annoyed than if we're positive and lose - because it would indicate that that's our style for the long run, which will almost certainly lead to more defeats than draws/wins.
I think the position we find ourselves in at the moment is to win at all costs. 2 or 3 wins will obviously boost confidence and morale. However, no way is a win coming until we at least play with a sense of purpose which has sadly been lacking recently. The main thing that really hurts about these last 2 defeats, apart from virtually a lack of everything, is that we have been comfortably beaten by a poor side.
Think we need to see a good performance and see some attacking football for a change . All these coaches we’ve now got and we are getting worse game by game
my ambitions are lower, complete a 10 yard pass out of defence to another player wearing the same shirt
I honestly can't see us getting result at Blackpool think Blackpool win easy just like huddersfield did. Struggling to remember last time we even gave half decent performance at blackpool
I hate slagging the team off. So trying to be constructive I cannot see where we are going. The players for me were at fault early doors in the season. Now it seems we can't string a passing movement to fruition. Giving the ball away schoolboy ish. No pressing the opposition, leaving em to play freely with ease. Last night the 1st goal yet again an error on our part. Corners at both ends are unorganised and goal kicks laughable if not serious. Killip who I thought played well. Given little or no options. Tactically I'm not sure what, if any, tactics we have. Vast improvements needed. I'd also start with Pines.
I’d just take a couple of wins on the back of recent results. If we play well, great. I don’t think the fanbase is in the mood for us playing better and still not winning.
Times already against him. Fans on here calling for his dismissal. If results don't pick up quickly this is only going one way. I want the owners out but any sign of the fans turning on the board and Clarke will be out the door. Hopefully this time though the board get hammered from all angles. I'm sick of their bull **** and the fact they are all grossly incompetent.
'Battling Barnsley' used to love reading that about us. Unfortunately now it's 'Not bothered Barnsley'
Results, it's a result based business there the things that normally keep managers in jobs and keep fans relatively quiet and Darrell Clarke needs some results and fast.
If we could stop going from a corner, or set piece / throw-in in the final third, back to our goalkeeper in two moves, that would be a positive. If at least 50% of passes went forward, that would be a positive. Crossing the ball into the opposition box, rather than running the length of the field and then going backwards, that would be a positive. Having the odd shot at goal, even off target, that would be a positive.
