Folk keep banging on about the number of coaches/assistants we have……. We have run very lean on the coaching side for years, as well as the back room staff as well. What people are now seeing at BFC, is a normal amount of assistants on the bench. Which may seem excessive, but it’s not. We’re now normal. Have a look at Hudds staff and the number they have: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/huddersfield-town/mitarbeiter/verein/1110 And then compare to ours: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/barnsley-fc/mitarbeiter/verein/349 Still miles behind Hudds on staffing…..
Exactly. We should be pleased that the club has invested more into the non-playing staff side in an effort to improve the whole club. That’s how growth and development happens. Recently departed members of staff have commented they had to do more than their role suggests, and whilst they didn’t mind, sometimes it gets too much. A non football league club usually has the manager and 2 assistants - so you’d expect full time professional league clubs to have at least more than that - and they do. We’re just finally playing catch up.
To an extent - but you can’t have quality coaching if you’ve not got proper time with the players and spread too thin.
I know Clarke wanted to bring in a mate from Derby (I think there under 23 side) and the club were keen on backing him like they did with Whitehead. Maybe he’s happy with what he has? Especially since Hourihane now doesn’t wanna be a player anymore.
