And we think our Defence is bad - school boy Defending. Greece were the better team and their star Striker was missing - didn’t need him.

Probably thought given Gordon was player of the tournament when he played him upfront on his own in the U21 he was capable.

And that’s why he’s messed up getting the job permanently. Thank god.

    Pure banter.

We’re England. Look at the Euros final. Barely strung a pass together. But if we are in your face, direct, we can clearly go deep in tournaments (especially if we get a pleasant route there).

Why can’t we accept what we are and pick a side/shape that suits us?

I’ve no doubt Foden, Jude, Palmer and so on are talented players. But in 1990 I wouldn’t have expected Bobby to pick three Gazza’s.

Weren't most of you on here saying this is a good idea though at first, to bring Carsley up from the u21s ?.
Especially as it was only going to be temporary, for these Nations League games.
I've no idea what he tried to do tonight, but it only started to work from about 80+ minutes. And Nations League or not... that's not good enough at Wembley!.

Don't get this "football philosophy" the FA insist is played at all age levels, tippy happy ********, pedestrian paced football. It's absolute ***** and not England. No need to reinvent the wheel but go more direct FFS.

Pickford; Trent, Stones, Guehi, Colwill; Angel Gomes, Rice, Bellingham; Palmer, Watkins, Gordon.

Could have gone with the above.

Don’t ask me why or how there’s no left back in the whole of the country.

He might play for City but that Lewis is not very good.

    Carsley, you’re a tit.

Defender came to my attention early in the game , 15 Colwill I ended up watching him more than the game and can't remember a worse performance from a defender.
    He was awful.

Here here. Real shame for stones, gutted for him. But, if he wasn't an incumbent, carsley would get nowhere near the job. And ..an England manager who refuses to sing the national anthem of the nation that pays his wages.....jog on you @rsehole. Should kill his chances off!!

Not this again, about the anthem!.
It doesn't bother me at all that he/Carsley doesn't sing it.

I'm sorry, wasn't it Southgate who got us relegated into group B? Took a 4-0 (yes, four-nil) hammering against Hungary, lost to Iceland as well. We've had plenty of worst defeats than a 2-1 loss to a decent Greek side mate.

The lad is usually a right back or centre midfielder. Played a handful of games at most for City as a left back and gets chucked in here, has to mark 2 players with acres of space. Don't think it's cracking to single him out today as he's a brilliant talent for his age, but suspect by Carsley I agree with you on mate. Livramento should have played, he's played more at left back and often changes to that side when Newcastle makes a sub when he starts at the right. Shaw's always injured, Chilwell has been ***** & injured, Rico Henry huge injury. Not a fan of Joe Gomez but he'd certainly do a job fine there. I'd honestly pick a natural left back though i.e Mitchell or even Leif Davis.

I didnt get the Saka, Foden, Trent and Palmer occupying the right while Gordon was alone left. Even when it was clear we needed balance and cover infront of the defence Saka was replaced by Madueke. Odd. Then we have Lewis who rushes everything especially when he isnt rotating in tight circles with the ball and Rice who this past year just looks off it. The final move of going from no strikers to 2 just proved to me that following the same model as Southgate with this manager wont progress us at all.

    1) You don’t remember England under Southgate losing to Hungary twice then? Including 4-0 at home? We wouldn’t necessarily have won easily with him in charge whatsoever.

    2) Agree completely. Possibly the cheap option but definitely the lazy and easy one. And not one I think should be taken.

It’s a complete non issue. Plenty of players and previous coaches didn’t sing it either.
