The old lefties on here seem to have gone quite.. if you haven't realised you've been conned yet, i known where there's a bridge for sale in London going cheap.. Its ok tho keep your heads burred buttercups.. Targeting the YOUNG and ELDERLY! (youtube.com)
Think this poster lost any credibility a while ago when he compared the people rioting at Manvers to the striking miners in 84. He's also very good at throwing an inflammatory post out there and leaving everyone else to bicker about it. Silly sausage.
I didn't vote Labour, but I knew the tories were doomed. I'm delighted we no longer have a tory govt. Your point is....?
Some Tory spokesperson on radio yesterday talking about their leadership election.Stated they need to get back to the one nation low tax leadership that the Conservatives are known for..Forgot to mention that upon leaving after 13 years in charge the UK had the biggest gap between rich and poor and the Highest individual tax burden in living memory....errrm One nation low tax, this spokesperson is as deluded as the poster of this thread. Laughable that 100 days in government is already being compared to 13 years of Tory rule...but that's the Tory owned media for ya if ya dense enough to listen..
I was never conned, I know that this is the most right wing Labour party ever. But it is better that the shitshow we've had to endure for the last 15 years. So putting VAT on private school fees is attacking the young? They are not charities, they are money making businesses and they perpetuate inequality. You do know that under the changes to the fuel allowance, the poorest pensioners will be getting more than they would have done don't you? Why should Theresa May who is a multi millionaire get winter fuel payments just because of her age? It makes no sense. I personally will not be getting the fuel allowance but I will be fine. The tory press are having a field day with this but wouldn't have said a word if the Tories had done it - which they planned to do on several occasions.
It was Brown who introduced it in 97 anyway. The Tories daren't scrap it cos it keeps their core vote onside, although they would've hated that it was a Labour policy
Rachel reeve has claimed over £3,700 pound of tax payers money to heat her home in the last 5 years. And in total labour mps have claimed over 400k.of tax payers money to heat there homes in the last 5 years. But they deserve it they work really hard
If MP's had to pay the costs of maintaining the second home required to fulfill their parliamentary role, then I don't think many people (especially on the Labour side) could afford to do the job. Wouldn't be terribly representative, would it?
Rachel reeve previously earned 86k and that has now doubled since her promotion. Her husband earns 175k a year how can they cope bringing in only just over 300k combined. Like you say they definitely need the help towards heating their home.
