National Anthem at England Games

    So Merde commented on my comment about England National Anthem and suggested we should ditch the current one and have something that better reflects modern England and I thought this might have some comedic value or gritty reality, only thing is they have to be English artists.
    So imagine a full Wembley, teams lined up, we sit for 45 minutes through Brazilian or Italian anthems and then comes our modern anthem. My votes:

    Agadoo : Black Lace (players have to do the actions)
    I Predict a Riot : Kaiser Chiefs
    I Don't care: Ed Sheeran
    Tiswas: Sleaford Mods

    My vote is for no anthems at all. Really don’t see the point of them in modern society.

    Cocoon would be great, getting the players to just do a full lap of Wembley doing the clapping getting it ramped up

    Yeah so would I, and its a tedious argument anyway.
    What does it matter, if a player or coach/manager chooses not to sing it. :oops:

    If we have to have one, whatever it is, I'd have a professional singer to sing it. It's literally impossible for the whole stadium to sing it together due to the fact that sound travels at 767mph which means that there is a noticeable lag by the time it gets to people in different parts of the ground. This results in nobody singing in time and with our current dirge it is painful to listen to.

    Didn't they do that at Euro 96, a professional singer for each country, at Wembley.
    Paul Young sang ours for one game, and made a bit of a balls up of it. :rolleyes:

    Hard to say what could replace it... when you look at how stirring certain other anthems are too.
    Personally; I enjoy a rousing rendition of an anthem
