Good lad is Edward. Him, Sophie and the kids all seem decent.

Pathetic news item on Look North. Gone in a flash. Had that been in Leeds it would have been a five minute feature

I think it's great a royal turned up. Lots of people may not like them but personally I think it shows the progress of the town - doubt they'd have risked it a few years ago.;)

What's the point of it though? It's not like a bridge is something that needs publicity

No clue mate. It's happened millions of times though. Celebs, musicians, royals, politicians. Guess it's just nice for the town.

When I worked in an office at the Trafalgar Square end of The Strand, I was in a pub round the corner one lunchtime (The Harp) and sat by the window. They have a great big window at the front that they open right up when the weather allows. I noticed a smartly dressed bloke walking past who was paying great attention to everyone walking nearby and thought he looked a bit odd, but then I realised why, as Prince Edward then walked past, about ten yards behind him, followed by another bloke, who I’d now realised was a bodyguard. Working in central London you’d see someone famous daily, but it’s the first time I’d gone back to work and said I’d just seen a Prince.

I hope the council/ developers were ashamed, for a civic reception you’d expect a bit of pride?
Chewing gum all over, loose gravel/debris from the appalling finish. The ploughed field deck admittedly looks okay on a dry day .

Clearly neither have any shame as otherwise the council wouldn't have signed it off or Keltbray would have made the surfacing contractor do it again.

Mark was from Wombwell & never played for Barnsley. Couldn't the borough have some sort of monument for him on Wombwell High Street?

wtf has this Prince Edward ever done?
Failed as a marine and did nothing since.
Absolute loser. And we are forced to keep him in an undeserved lifestyle.

To be fair he is remembered on the plaque. I think the difference in his treatment though is that he never played for Barnsley, but that doesn't detract from the fact that he's one of our own, a son of the borough.
