That's dreadful news. No wonder he was livid about the press leaking it earlier before he'd had chance to tell his family.
That's awful news. Especially having just been to see Rhod Gilbert talking about that very subject and his own experiences this evening
Wow. Dreadful news. Just emphasises the need to live life to the full. Best wishes to Chris for the coming months
Sickening. It drums home yet again that cancer doesn't discriminate. Being a super healthy athlete doesn't mean you will never get it. We could all get it at any time. Smoker, non smoker, drinker, teetotal, meat eater, vegetarian, vegan, fat, skinny etc.
Horrendous news, 1 in 2 people get cancer in their lifetime now, have to hope you catch it early and it's not one of the more serious ones. Lost 3 of my 4 grandparents to cancer, so it's always on my mind, but for people in their 30s, 40s and younger of course to keep dying of it really is awful and a bit of a jolt.
It’s heartbreaking for him as he’s such a young guy. As a cancer sufferer the impact on your family is devastating. I’m so fortunate that I recently got a letter from Weston park to say I’m in remission. There’s so much luck involved because it can be so cruel. I feel a fraud at times and guilt because it looks like I may be ok when I’ve friends who have not been so lucky. Earlier this year we lost our nephew at 53. I really feel so sorry for Chris Hoy and his family.
Please do not feel a fraud. My wife is now coming up to 23 years post-cancer and I just feel lucky to have had so much extra time to do things together. Having to watch her go through the brutal but ultimately lifesaving treatment at the time was painful, stressful and changed my feelings towards so called family and friends who disappeared and offered very little to no support for either of us. Good luck to you sir and enjoy life as fully as possible. On the Chris Hoy front truly devastating news and shame on the press.
Reading this news has really peed me off. What an athlete and a first class gent. Hope we find a cure for cancer. I will donate to find a cure every time I can. Bugger.
Am I right in thinking the press tryed to force him to announce it a while ago and quite rightly shut them down. Cruel disease probably one of the fitties blokes for his age and this evil disease will end his life far too early.
