SNP acknowledge 24 different genders

I think people should be able to identify as whatever they like, it's their business. My problem with it begins when I'm compelled by "law" to go along with other peoples' imaginations, as evidenced in Canada.

Live and let live absolutely. That includes me too though. You want to believe you're really a toaster, go for it, just don't expect me to go along with it.

The issue I’ve got is the victimhood farming that *some* people clearly live for - “I was misgendered in Starbucks and now my life is over”. Yawn. There was a girl at my son’s school who identified as a clown and wanted to be addressed as “clown self”. I’m sorry but you cannot convince me this is a valid gender and not a mental illness, this person needed help not affirmation.

I must have missed where that was listed by the SNP or where literally anybody has advocated for that.

 

The problem is that when you define Gender as being purely a social construct, it means that it cannot simultaneously be a self-chosen. So, if you say there is a gender called autigender, like the SNP have, what they are saying is that people can construct their own gender in the context of their autism, so then Gender isn't a social construct is it? It can't be both. In which case, if it IS self-actualized, why are there only 24 Genders recognised by the SNP? What about the clowns?
People are confusing sex and gender, one doesn't replace the other, my sex might be male but I might identify as a lamp post - its when people say that your lamp post is therefore you sex. You would be better off asking people their sex and including in that the list of rare biological ways you might not fit into the 2 sexes we generally recognise, outside of that, you can identify your gender as an attack helicopter, no one then cares - but for the purposes of society you have your sex based on the biological truth of the matter. Its when this idea of Gender is brought into the realms of officialdom like the SNP are doing that it becomes ridiculous - ask a doctor, when they're prescribing drugs, diagnosing a condition, etc - what are they going to ask? What was your Sex at birth? they are not caring about your Gender identity.

 

That's what I said, identity as whatever you want if it makes you happy. But there will only ever be 2 genders male or female. Basic science.

Correct, it's basic science. Just like how basic maths says you can't divide by 0.

But when you get into more advanced maths you realise it's more complicated than that. It's the same thing with gender.

You stick to your GCSE level science though.

That's the trouble Brush, people who listen to scum bags like Robinson, Farage, 30p Anderson, Tice, and these far-right presenters on GB News and Talk T,V. like Mick Graham, Julia Hartley-Brewer, Oakeshott, and Ress-Mogg, are easily radicalized and will never get over it because of the Hate they spread.

 

Why would you care so much about how someone else perceives themselves? It's interesting that the human mind is capable of such complex and varied ways of being, everyone only knows their own mind and they may not even achieve that, so why the rush to define what is right and what is wrong when it's only something each person can know.

Is it the threat of having to treat others with respect that upsets so many, even if it's only a theoretical respect? I suppose you get to feel a bit superior if you can think of yourself as simple, pragmatic, uncomplicated, a serious grown up.

Everyone is free to identify as they wish, and the bare minimum is to respect that and expect the same in return.

 

There are only 3 states of matter. Solid Liquid and Gas. It’s basic science.

Can’t be doing with these lefty liberal woke intermediate states or nonsense states that only happen in certain environments. I learned there were only 3 states when i was 10 and that’s that.

The world’s dead easy to navigate when you refuse to learn anything other than the basics isn’t it. Could get used to this.

 

I have no problem with people identifying with whatever gender they choose, doesn't affect me in the slightest, and I just treat everyone as a human being regardless.

But come on, it's getting ridiculous with some of the genders identified, like the one I highlighted above, what does that even mean, it's not 'gender' related at all to my mind.
