Looked a great finish from West Lower. I think he’s been good for us this season. Sure, he wasn’t rattling them in before his injury but I thought his link up play, running in behind and overall game was good. I would quite like to see the combination of Humphrys and Watters.
Watters actually played the role of a striker today, from the minute his foot connected that was only ever going to be a goal! Well done!
He's a good option to bring on from the bench and to challenge the front two whenever they have a dry spell, I like him and if nothing else he will give you 100% effort each time. Sam Cosgrove on the other hand is dross.
Was actually starting to look like a decent player, scored a couple then got injured. After scoring goal tonight I wonder if its worth trying him to front with humphrys and DKD behind them both
Watters is a man who we invested in to be a forward. When it comes to him paying us back, he's defaulted practically for the whole of his contractual period. So it's nice to see him throwing a bit of loose change our way every now and then. Like tonight. Perhaps he can now start paying us back in full.
Harsh. He started the season well then got injured. He’s just come back and scored off the bench to gain us a point. I’m not sure what more he could have done this season up to now? Apart from not getting injured I suppose but I’m not sure how much control he had over that.
Nobody I'd want on the end of a chance inside the box before Max. But if we're expecting him to link play, hold up the ball, operate in a slow-moving possession-orientated system, sell him. Play on the front foot, get players wide and let him do his work in the box. Sadly, I don't think Darrell will play the system I want. Which is a 10 (DKD) in behind Watters and Humphrys. I hope I'm wrong.
He can't do that, but if you push a through ball, he can outpace the opposition defence. One of the fastest players I've seen in a reds shirt. I personally think Cosgrove and Watters is a good striker partnership in this division.
We don't have wide players who are capable of doing the job that is necessary to feed Watters, who does have exceptional speed to get to the ball from wide if it gets delivered swiftly enough for him to run on to. Said wide players either can't run with it, or beat a man, or have the skill to make the pass. Or a combination of all 3.
Watters is like a cheetah at top speed but I reckon he's got the worst acceleration of a fast player I've ever seen. That said he started off the season well before his injury and his goals per minute ratio for us is decent. Hope he kicks on.
I think you're probably right. I do have some hope in Gent. It's early days but I'm seeing good signs. On the other side, Barry and Corey would be a great player at this level if we could merge their strengths, lose their weaknesses and have just one player. Barry O'Keeffe.
I'd mentioned before that yesterday was my son's first visit to Oakwell. His favourite player is Max, after scoring plenty on FC24 with him. I'd warned him that he's been injured so he probably wouldn't see him. But there he was, coming off the bench to score at the death. Thanks Max. A highlight to save what could have been a very demoralising experience.
