Well we haven't done that for the last 30 years with our wonderful academy.. Apart from a once in a lifetime Stones, plus the one that got away being clicker Clarke. A couple that's had reasonable careers at Grimsby and Cambridge is not a great return.. our last big hopes were Marshy Ackroyd and Wolfie..
Thirty years work.. at million pound a year is it. We may aswell had bought lottery tickets every week..

Flunked the punch as didn't have eyes on the ball, too busy eyeing players while he shrinks hoping he doesn't get clattered.

If the keeper decisively comes out and punches it well clear of danger, then there's no issue.

Maybe he called, maybe the defender didn't hear, maybe he didn't call.

Nobody knows. Either way, it was a balls up.

He clearly called as one defender ducked and the other stopped.

He’s not a bellend, he’s a young keeper who’s made a few mistakes whilst learning his trade.

It’s time for the goalkeeping coach to earn his keep. He works with our keepers all week so should know the strengths and weaknesses of each and is in the best position to decide who the number one is.

Remember Roberts looked a top keeper for the first few months of last season and then had a shaky period. Maybe this kid needs a rest but you can’t write him off after a dozen appearances.

Fair call, but he only played 2 games and set an incredibly low bar.

Fair point, but did a top team pay £15M for him?

No - The Charlton keeper seems to have paid his dues down in the lower reaches for some time.

The fact that Chelsea burnt money on this keeper that our own bosses have loaned seems to me to be only of interest and not relevance. It's up to us to do our own homework before we take someone on - be it loan or own.

Yep, we’d probably have got a better return on the lottery or some premium bonds. For a third tier club haemorrhaging money the way we are it’s an expensive luxury that isn’t justifying the outlay on it. Especially when we loan other club’s youngsters and deny our own a chance.
